Forever the bell icon in the upper right would only light up if I had friend requests, new chat messages, etc. For the past few days I'm getting notifications every time I come here with ads. I guess I selected something or did something to cause this, so is there some action I can take to stop it?

We don't really know. The staff are doing that thing again where they're harder to find than Snufkin during winter.

Unchecking all checkboxes under Subscriptions will (unproven) cause these notifications to disappear. The question which one specifically is tied to it, is still unknown. (I suspect "Releases and announcements")
