From my Linux side of things, I once spent almost an entire year with the same drivers. I simply didn't encounter any problems with any games / other software that needed a change. In fact in almost 2 and a half years I have updated about my GPU drivers about 4 times.

The Golden Words I shall never forget - Don't fix what isn't broken.

For the record: On my main system I'm running Nvidia drivers 375.26 which were released on 14th Dec 2016, been 4 months already :D

Strijkbout: I never understood the reason for updating your videodrivers, I never updated my screwdrivers either.
Sometimes new drivers can provide better framerates in certain games, or resolve certain graphical anomalies again playing certain games. Having said that, some of the older drivers were actually better....
I used to update often, only to find myself going backwards due to old games not playing well with newer drivers.
Quickly changed to update when a problem arises and only then, amd's nag update shit is ignored.

OldFatGuy: ...ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS keep your video drivers up to date.
That's the most infuriating lie everybody keeps repeating. That's just an easy way for developers and fanboys to dismiss whatever problem you might have with their precious.

Is game X not working as well as it should? That's your fault, for not using the latest drivers. This might be true for completely new releases, though that's not the whole story, but whenever I hear it being said about games older that 6 months I start feeling the need to punch something.
