Not being able to install and play my legit copies of Plants vs Zombies and Peggle, because of DRM. Aaaargh!

The games were originally delivered by PopCap Gamers or whatever it was called, but apparently that company was bought out by EA at some point and now the servers which are supposed to authenticate my PvZ and Peggle are permanently offline, so I can't validate and play them.

I was hoping I could somehow redeem the games on EA Origin (as they do have some versions of Peggle and PvZ sold there apparently), but no such luck. I didn't receive such code from PopCap games that EA Origin is expecting, but some other kind of code.

So there you have it: DRM is evil. Eeeeeevil! It inconveniences the legit gamers.
Sega mega drive while at school someone asked me what games i had and was also very annoying about it that i should borrow him a game. I actually borrowed him sonic 3 and knuckles, he sold it that bastard.
Then i only had sonic had sonic 1,2,3 and pinball sonic which i got 3 from a friend.
Kinda got dissapointed without sonic and knuckles game so one day when i had a pc and some mothers friend son came to visit i gave him my sega meg adrive away with all the 30 games i had. Never got it back though, but i was already mostly a pc player then.
I wouldn't have borrowed the sega mega drive console if i still has sonic and knuckles.

I spent money on Outlast 2.

I bought a Dreamcast (including the original discs for Shenmue 1 & 2 - which is really the only reason anyone would have a Dreamcast in the first place) for 10 bucks from a classmate. I couldn't get it to run at first, so I put it in storage somewhere. And I have no idea where. In almost 10 years I never managed to find the damn thing.
I threw Diablo away because I was too addicted to it.

Lost not one, not two, but three Xbox 360s. Two to red rings of death and one, I found out the hard way why you don't play video games during a thunderstorm.
Warcraft 3 + Frozen Throne - borrowed them but never returned ^^

I did exactly the same thing with Jagged Alliance 2. After finishing the game on novice with a gimped I.M.P character, I decided to start a new game on experienced difficuly with a less sucky I.M.P. The hours just few by.......

On topic though, I lost my entire games collection due to a flood (I think 2.5 years ago), a collection of around 130 games. Fortunately I've been able to replace the physical copies with GOG versions for the most part but I'm still missing around 20 games.

Warning: Off topic rant

The loss of my gaming discs was trivial, losing my classic lego collection to the flood was absolutely crushing. Lego has abandoned their own pirate and space line of models for licenced themes like Pirates of the Caribean and Star Wars. I miss the creativity of the space and pirate theme sets, and serously, LEGO Star Wars can go fuck itself. The popularity of LEGO Star Wars pretty much ensures LEGO space ain't coming back.......

Rant off
A ps2 and several games.

Minish Cap. It was leant to my step-brother, I never got it back. Stung more because it had been a present from my father for doing well in school.

Also, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. I leant it to one of my sister's boyfriends, and never got it back after they broke up. I think it goes for like £200 on eBay now. After multiple problems with emulating GameCube games, I ended up buying an old Wii for £20 and hacking it to boot and play games from an SD card. Now I can play Path of Radiance and use the native memory card function to save, allowing me to use save data for its sequel.

EDIT: Oh! And DotEmu closing down. I think they only sent the notice to people who were signed up to the newsletter, so I was none the wiser. I've not received any word back from them about it for a refund or anything, and emailing publishers hasn't worked.

I think my partner wishes I'd do that with Europa Universalis.

Photograph your game boxes and codes Do you still have receipts if you do photograph all of them including a bill with your name and address on it and tell them you can't play your LEGALLY BOUGHT GAMES they might put them into your account it worked for me when steam was being a bitch and wasn't validating my 2 bioshock games I got both the regular bioshock 1 and 2 AND the enhanced versions!

I can hardly believe several games were enough for a meal, let alone a drug use. How much were these games worth in ps2 era?

I would not underestimate how dumb/desperate drug addicts can be. I know someone who lived with a drug user who stole some of his DVDs to pawn for drug money. Nothing rare or unusually valuable. Just regular stuff like the Lord of the Rings movies.

For some time I always started the game with a strong IMP character, who usually became the strongest member of the group. But it started to bug me that he had so little personality compared to the rest of the group. No special relationships/hatreds with other mercs, pretty mute overall and with no interesting background.
Now each time I play I turn the IMP character into my radio operator, since I don't like the other radio operator mercs, and roleplay him as my eyes and ears on the ground who can relay instructions. And he's always British, red-haired and armed with a big-ass handgun, because I don't know why :P

Sucks to hear about your legos :( The space themes were very cool, and the pirate theme even cooler imo. Another one I miss dearly is the castle theme. But fortunately at least the city theme is still going strong.

As far as I know, none of the CD copies still being sold have any DRM. No activation needed or anything. Just install from disc, take out disc, and enjoy.

No CD here. They were codes received directly from PopCap games or whatever it was called.

It is a reminder for me why I don't like DRM. So much simpler when I don't have to fret "what do I do when the activation servers eventually go down?".
