The Return, 2003, Andrey Zvyagintsev.

Unparalleled photography and excellent acting throughout the film. Few movies have moved me like "The Return", it is really a unique experience that every one who loves cinema should indulge himself/herself in.

Many movies I love have alreaby been mentioned, Lord of the Rings, Spirited Away, No Country For Old Men to name a few.

X-Men 2 (Bryan Singer, 2003)

Even more so now that the sad ending ultimately leads to a happier ending due to the existence of "X-Men: Days of Future Past", sort of like "The Force Awakens" did for "The Empire Strikes Back"... no, wait, that was the opposite effect!

...OK, it's still too soon. Maybe I'll get over that character's death in a decade or two.

I wholeheartedly agree! I've just finished watching it for the 3rd time.

Although it's ending is a little sad, but that's a mark of its brilliance as one ends up feeling emotional about an AI character when logically one shouldn't, exactly the dilemma experienced by George Clooney's character.
