What are some wonderful video game franchises that have fallen into deep obscurity?

One example would be Baldur's Gate. It's a great bilogy of games, which was very popular or yore. Nowadays, though it's fallen into obscurity. Which is a shame, since Baldur's Gate 2 is the best video game ever made.

What are some other video game franchises that have fallen into obscurity?

Why did it happen?

Would you like to see them come back?

We've got BG 1 EE, BG 2 EE, BG: Siege of Dragonspear and BG3. Please define "obscurity".

A lot of people are not fan of the "EE" games made by Beamdog.. Preferred they didnt exist?. BG3 doesnt sound promising from certain points of view..

I can understand why they didn't like BG1 EE for its awful cutscenes but I don't see the problem with BG2 EE. BG3 is a completely different game which I personally do not like. However it's hardly a case with *BG franchise fallen into deep obscurity* as per OP who is silent at the moment.

Think means lack of popularity
Phantasy Star. The first one I played was IV. It was the game that made me love RPGs.
Planescape torment especially for its story

What ,do you mean it has fallen into obscurity? it is one of the most well known game franchises.... and if you did not notice it, BG3 is currently in alpha, and it has 100k+ sales, that's even before its full released. Is it this what you call obsurity?

OutRun.

It used to define racing games, or at least driving games of certain kind, but these days the only OutRun releases are ports of the original games and not further developed sequels. Young kids have never heard about those games.

Dune. The original C&C series.
Dune was not a C&C games, it was very good though, but it is not a C&C series. Dune II was a C&C game. And again, many people know that Dune II was the game that started the genre - is it obscure?

Obscure means "not known" or "hidden" so the question is game franchisesmost people do not know about.

From me it would perhaps be:
Tenchu series
Earthbound series (aka Mother)
Resistance
Golden Sun
Hired Guns (not a franchise, but still....)
Waku Waku
Klonoa
Timesplitters
Valkyrie Profile
Bishi Bashi
Vandal Hearts

These are games I very rearly hear people talking about

That explains why mods deleting "off-topic" posts with such zealous. I wonder how long till yours and mine got deleted. Looking forward for a next ban or a least a warning, because it would be "just".
Lol Baldur's Gate obscure xP But to try and answer your question:

Deadlock, KKND and Little Big Adventure. Of course I'd love for all 3 to make a comeback. Possibly Wing Commander as well, with Mark Hamill (who miraculously survived dammit)

GOG protects this guy so hard, I think he is a relative of one of GOG's higher ups honestly.
