I am watching The Next Generation, so I am wondering what are some good Star Trek games you would recommend. It doesn't matter which genre or what series it is based on. I know I can just get the list from Wikipedia or something, but I would rather have personal recommendations.

I already played the two Elite Forces games when I watched Voyager last time.
The point and click adventures games were fun. I enjoyed them despite of not being a Star Trek fan (at all).
Star Trek: The Next Generation - A Final Unity was a very good Star Trek game. It's a point & click adventure and styled like it were a part of the TV series. The English version even has the original cast as voice actors.

Unfortunately gog doesn't have it in its catalog. It's an old DOS game, so you'll probably have to rely on ebay and DOSbox to get it and cross your fingers it even runs nowadays.
Star Trek 25th anniversary and Star Trek Judgment rites are excellent if you like the original series, they capture the atmosphere of the tv show perfectly.
Only other Star Trek game I've completed is Starfleet academy...I enjoyed it a lot back in the late 1990s, and it has videos with appearances by Kirk, Sula and Chekov. I don't think it has held up that well though as a game (tbh, compared with something like Freespace it sucks as a space combat game), so I wouldn't recommend it without some reservations.
Away Team was brilliant. It's basically Commandos in Star Trek, but it really works great. Honestly I like it much more than any of the Commandos games. It's not part of any one Trek series but rather a new crew and ship set after DS9 (and that's the series it resembles most I think).

Bridge Commander was good, though not perfect, and the first Armada was quite good too, as good as a Star Trek RTS could possibly be, I think. I heard a lot of praise for DS9: The Fallen, but I think it's just ok-ish. Not bad, but nothing to write home about either.
There was a great RTS one where you play several different campaigns as different factions, even Borg, but I can't remember the name of it. Shit, it might have already been mentioned and I wouldn't remember.

Birth of the Federation was a lot of fun. It was a 4X MOO-ish sort of game, where you could play any of the classic Next Generation races, and the sort of minor one-off aliens also showed up as minor factions that had a unique wonder. It really captured the feel of the shows, especially Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.

Add your vote to Birth of the Federation in the community wishlist, and pray.
Star Trek: Armada I and II

Star Trek: Elite Force I and II

Star Trek: Starfleet Command I, II, and Orion Pirates (III was trash)

Star Trek: Bridge Commander
I second, "Star Trek: The Next Generation - A Final Unity".
That was the game that finally pushed my Amiga mates, still clinging on to their Amiga 1200s in the hope of a game that pushed the AGA chipset, to finally crack and buy a half-decent PC in 1995 - I jumped to PC in early 94.

I just wish we could see a STNG game like this.

And for a "Holy Shit" moment, here is the original series.

At first, I thought it was from the actual series. Stunning.
1. Star Trek: The Next Generation - A Final Unity

2. Star Trek: Judgment Rites

3. Star Trek: 25th Anniversary

Below the podium, but still good:

- Star Trek: Klingon

- Star Trek: Borg

- Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Fallen

- Star Trek: The Next Generation - Klingon Honor Guard

- Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force

Thanks for posting about this, this is something I always wanted. I spent few hours exploring the ship, and I noticed some details I didn't notice in the show. Also now when I watch the episodes I have better "spacial awareness".

But it is very hard to navigate the corridors, because everything looks the same. I guess it was a cost saving measure for the show, but the ship really could have used some color coding to make the decks and corridors easier to navigate.
