I wouldn't mind so much if I trusted their partners, but I don't.

clarry: TLDR; GOG is selling and supporting DRM'd games from EPIC
Indeed, but the text GOG uses makes it sound like EGS is just the start, which is why the text says "different platforms" - a generic and widely-applicable term - rather than EGS specifically.

Probably the only reason why it's just EGS so far is because that's the only company that GOG was able to work out a contract with as of yet.

But in the future, GOG will probably also sell DRM'ed games from Ubisoft, Bethesda, Steam, Uplay, EA, etc. etc...or at least as many of those companies as are willing to sign contracts with GOG to allow GOG to sell their DRM'ed games.

Mortius1: All references to "Partner" (as in someone they share data with) is now replaced by "Trusted Partner".
Isn't EPIC stationed in the US? [EDIT: Yes, of course]

At least officially data sharing is supposed to be govern by a privacy shield because of NSA's Prism program.

Considering the Privacy Shield has been challenged legally by privacy groups time and time again, and was again struck down by the European Court of Justice recently I find it rather curious how they are going to solve it.

It was even rumoured that Facebook "threatened" to jump out of EU it the situation wasn't resolved.

I also wonder why they chose to do it now... I mean, announce the partnership deal.

Exactly, I will link in what I posted over on another thread:

GOG GALAXY Application includes GOG GALAXY Store that allows you to purchase selected games from different platforms and to access such games directly on a partner gaming platform without the need to redeem any code (we will call it: Keyless Access).

InkPanther: ... so don't you dare call us key resellers.
I feel like maybe this is a pretty universal experience, but when I was a small child, and just learning profanity, I wanted to swear, because it got a reaction, but I didn't want to get in trouble for swearing. So what we did in the school-yard, was say things like "ship" instead of "shit," and we weren't swearing, it was a totally different last letter, so it wasn't fair if we got in trouble for it. Our teachers took it in good humor, but did eventually tell us to knock it off.

GOG telling us that they're not key-resellers has big "nine-year olds telling their teachers that they're not technically swearing" energy. Knock if off, GOG.
