Armchair generals, listen up! You could save up to 90%!

This weekend sees the deployment of the Slitherine Weekend Sale. Packed with some of the deepest strategic experiences on offer, Slitherine isn’t afraid to go from ancient history to the vastness of space.

In the darkness of the 41st millennium, there is only war...and plenty of games based on it. Slitherine’s Warhammer 40k: Sanctus Reach and Armageddon pack all of the punch of their tabletop counterparts, dakka dakka included.

For the history buffs, Order of Battle, Field of Glory and Panzer Corps place the player in command of historically accurate units from across World War 2 and the ancient world.

Plenty of strategy, plenty of savings, none of the DRM.

Sale ends Augst 27th, 10pm UTC.
I remember Close Combat: A Bridge Too Far being fun but difficult ... then again, I was pretty young when it came out. Wonder how well it aged.
Hey GOG you forgot to add the link above...here it is for those reading the forum Slitherine Sale
Weird. This must be the first sale where I don't own any of the titles, and don't have any on my wishlist either. Which means I'm happy for other people who'll get something nice, but I'll have to stick to my backlog for the immediate future.

Same here. :P

PS: Strange that this topic doesn't seem to appear in the General Forum page. The forums and the website in general are really acting up lately...
The only Warhammer 40.000 game I want is Space Marine.
I'm interested in some turn based titles, but it seems they all use turn limit mechanisms, which are an absolute deal breaker for me.

Is there, by any chance, any option to disable turn limits?
I recommend Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock. It captures the spirit of the 2004 TV series, but works on its own as a decent fleet tactics game. There's a basic galactic campaign map which involves shuffling ships to their destination and taking the occasional story mission, but the real meat is the battles themselves. Combat is simultaneous turn-based on a 3D plane, with armor values assigned to every side of a ship. This means you're constantly jockeying for a superior position while trying to predict your opponent's movements, and then the results play out over ten seconds. There's also a bunch of frail subsystems that regulate everything from weapons to navigation. It sounds complicated, I know. Some fleet tactics games are a major pain to get to grips with, but Battlestar Galactica manages to be relatively simple to play, yet deceptively involved.

And yes, you can ram enemies in a suicide run. Though it's not as much fun as closing to point blank range and unloading a devastating torpedo volley.
Great, I had an eye on Distant Worlds: Universe for a while now.

Not sure though if i should buy it now, since it was 75% off in the summer sale. Unfortunately I missed it back then.
Too. Many. DLCs. I wish the Pazer Corps & co games would be packed into a more manageable collection. I hate buying DLCs separately.
A whopping 90 cents off the oldest games on sale. Impressive.

There are mods to remove them, or at least minimise their gameplay-debilitating effect :)

I agree with you, GOG should just offer the gold version of games instead of making their customers feel as though they're being nickled & dimed. The situation with Order of Battle and Panzer Corps is beyond ridiculous... http://www.slitherine.com/products/647/details/Panzer.Corps.Gold

Yeah, I really don't understand Slitherine's approach to discounts. They heavily discount Panzer Corps but not the early Close Combat games. Just seems bizarre to me. I would have expected the old games to receive decent discounts but with Slitherine this has not been the case to date.
Has anyone tried that Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy game?
