Picking gems along the way.

On one end you have beefy strategy games like X Rebirth, Stronghold Crusader HD, and Wargame: European Escalation.
On the other, the odd point & click classic Runaway, the turn-based supernatural shenanigans of Hard West, and the surprisingly effective pairing of naval action with Warhammer in Man O' War: Corsair.
Quite the ensemble. Quite the enticing discounts too.

The Weekend Sale ends September 30, 10pm UTC.
Weekend sale recommendation: Runaway trilogy. Great adventure games, great story, not so easy, not illogically hard, lots of playtime. I own the original retail boxes but also supported GOG for getting this trilogy here, as any pure adventure game fan should!

edit: And at this price? Really, it's a steal.

I wish they would repackage StrongHold Crusader 2 with all DLCs included. Then I'd get it.
"It's raining! AGAIN!"

That line from Man O' War: Corsair cracks me up every single time. Thats a good thing, because that guy sure says it a lot. Like every time it rains.
Was Vaporum in the sale from the start? I've been tempted by this game before, but I keep saying that I'll get it when it's in one of those big sales, where bonus games are unlocked by how much you spend... Decisions, decisions...

I read that Stronghold Crusdaer 2's SP is little more than a tutorial.

Can anyone confirm this?
Still not the Telltale sale. Maybe on Monday.
Race the Sun is really neat - great for getting you mind off troubles. And for a meditative experience grab the Sunrise DLC too.
I wanted to try X3: TWP for a long time (also, EVE Online grabbed my attention when it was released, but i don't play MMOs so i had to forget about it, no matter how interesting it looked..), but the lack of free time always prevented me from buying it (a kind GOGer even offered me a gift code at some point, but declined since it wouldn't be right to redeem the code and just let it sit on my library perpetually...). Well, it's not like things are better right now but, what the hell, it's only 4 euros - minimal loss even if i don't play it 'till the end (does it have one?). So, thanks for the discount Egosoft & GOG.

Fun fact: based in my KSP playtime, it wouldn't surprise me to find spaceship debris/kerbals around. :)
Interesting that the weekend sale ends on Sunday, rather than Monday, as is usual. Error on the part of whoever wrote the news post, or indication of a special event starting Monday?

Many times. And there will be a few big sales soon, indeed, and it may be better to wait a while. However I highly recommend Vaporum. I was charmed with the game, it's really great dungeon crawler. If you liked Grimrock, you'll feel like home and and I really liked steampunk setting. Moreover, game is nicely optimized - I was able to comfortably play on my quite old budget laptop with integrated graphics.

From the sale I'd also like to recommend Runaway series. I've played the first one for now, but it was beautifully drawn and quite challenging classic point&click experience. It's not so often offered with discount, so better do not wait this time.

And GOG - this is very good Weekend Sale again! I like the long lost of games, some of them are newer, but also good old games are discounted. You're doing it right ;)

Good point. Thank you for noticing that. But - I'm not sure if the last weekend was different. Perhaps they just making Weekend Sale shorter, closing them on Sunday as a new rule?

The game gets surprising recommendations from people which opinion are usually close to mine. It's absolutely not my type of game, but I'm starting to think I'd regret if I won't try, especially at that price...

Thanks for that. But what I meant was, if Vaporum was part of the sale when they made the announcement post, or if it was added 2-3 hours later. Because I only notice later.

The steam punk elements were what first drew my attention, and the somewhat Lovecraftian trailer. I think I'll hold on making my purchase for now, but the very next opportunity it will be mine. I never heard of Runaway and the art style didn't really encourage me to search more bout the series. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll try and watch the beginning of some "let's play" on youtube and make my decision.
