Never played a SimCity, is SimCity™ 4 a good starting point?
Or should I pick one of the predecessors?
I'd buy Serious Sam 2 and 3

:)

edit: and Crysis 2 I think.

Alas, GOG is dead because they can't get any of the games I want.

Thanks! Was watching a couple short gameplay videos and it looks fun. :)

I have the SimCity game from 1995 in my library, but it doesn't look that appealing to me.
I was expecting a major sale not a small one like this .

On that point, GOG cannot win either way. When they have major sales going on, then customers complain that "GOG should not put their entire catalog on sale every few weeks" (even though it was not the entire catalog, but I'm just quoting what they said, not vouching for the statement's (non)accuracy).

And then when GOG doesn't have major sales going on, then they also get complaints too.

The graphics are not that great but in terms of gameplay it is fairly good IMO, although it has been a bit since I've played it. 3000 was my favorite (not really all that different from 2000 as I recall other than much nicer graphics, a built in way to get a bunch of extra money if you want an easier game, and a few slightly expanded mechanics), however when I tried the GOG version it crashed after several hours (this wouldn't have been as bad if there was an autosave :( ). I never got into 4 much, there is (was?) an issue where the economy could get into a blah state that lasted a while with approximately nothing you could do about it (something demographic related, I don't remember the details).

I don't recommend giving EA money at this point (I recommend Timberborn) but anyone who has SC4 might consider the network addon mod that I haven't tried yet but it sounds like it massively expands the transportation options.

Also, while not on sale, Urbek (demo) has a very similar feel to the Sim City games in terms of graphic design, music, and sound effects, although quite unlike the Sim City games it has a puzzle aspect where you need to place the right buildings in close proximity to particular other buildings over several stages of upgrades. A few rough edges but not too bad and I haven't played the latest updates, so worth considering for anyone looking for a builder.
