Ghorpm: Speaking about Strategy First... how about releasing Submarine Titans here? Huh?
I just sent them an email (I used business, sales, and info emails b/c I wasn't sure which one was most appropriate), you might do that too - http://www.strategyfirst.com/corporate.html

docbear1975: ...Has anyone played Darkstar One?
avatar
Ricky_Bobby: Yes I've played it, the combat was fun ... for the current price I definitely think it's worth a playthrough. The campaign took me at least 20 hours to complete, but this depends on how many side-missions you do.

The storyline was OK, it has the same depth and range as Rebel Galaxy ... i.e. not much and not that deep.
The voice-acting and cut-scene animations are not good, however the "space view" when you are in the cockpit is very nice. The music was great; the common but pleasant space-ambient stuff.

You have a single ship that you continuously upgrade according to how you play the game: trading or combat. Although you will have do some combat in order to progress. The reason for all this is that the ship you are using is some kind of mystery ship that can adapt itself into a trade-ship, combat ship or some kind of hybrid. By collecting special items you level up your ship as you would in an RPG.

Considering there's not much to spend your money on, unlike in Rebel Galaxy and games in the X series, it felt rather pointless to focus on trading in the game. It lacks the economic complexity for it to be useful, just my opinion. So my suggestion would be to focus on the combat if you get the game.

I played it with a gamepad and the combat worked really well, although I bet a flighstick would be nicer. I had no issues at all with managing the ship (repairs, shields, etc) during combat.

As expected in these kind of games, the side-missions are very repetitive. Especially the trading ones for obvious reason. However the combat was fun and, like I said, the gamepad worked great for me, so I definitely enjoyed the combat aspect of the game.

If you approach Darkstar One as a space shooter. it's definitely a game that can be fun.
Thanks for the response. It sounds like fun. You've sold me on it.

timppu: i need to check that Falcon remake thingamaling at some point anyway.
Be prepared to spend a lot of time reading stuff, watching tutorials etc unless you have previous experience with combat flight sims. There is a big learning curve in Falcon - much bigger than anything i've flied with so far - which may drive some people away, but in the end it's a highly rewarding experience especially if you have an interest in modern fighter jets and more specifically in the F-16. Good luck!
That's a mighty long list of games with something for every taste! and wallet. *tips hat*

vanchann: Great promo including many titles this week.

adamhm: Still missing the Linux versions of Dungeons 2, Tropico 5 and Crookz.

vanchann: I see your avatar icon again. Looks like GOG has finally fixed that issue.
Yeah, the large avatar icon besides my posts now finally shows the correct image. However, I see that the mini icon that is shown in the forum post listings, i.e. the icon under "Created By" still seems to be broken and in my case still shows my last avatar image and NOT my current one.
Forgive me if this was asked, but I didn't catch it when I scanned through the last few pages.

In the opinion of this group - is it worth going back to Port Royale 1 and Patrician 1/2 if I already own Port Royale 2 and Patrician 3?
Oh look, Omerta: Broken as Shit is on sale again. A friendly reminder: there is a fan patch to fix it since Kalypso won't.

The first Neptunia game came here on November 3rd. It doesn't look like fans will be having any luck completing the series on GOG. Good luck to you though.

More importantly, I'm still waiting on the Cinemaware catalog. It's never happening is it?

Can you be more specific? Didn't GOG's last patch fix it?

The Cinemaware catalog was sold to Starbreeze Studios. What might happen to the series now is anyone's guess.

IAmSinistar: <snip>
My 2 gaming computers probably aren't so powerful as yours so I suppose it'll be another "generation" until I can run it comfortably. It's alright tho. It's not like I'm desperate to find a game to occupy my free time.
However, if the game is as addictive as you said I am contemplating pushing it closer to the top of the queue...

JudasIscariot: Dungeons 2 is fixed :)
Any reason why we never got the rest of the neptunia series here? I tried contacting the companies and no one will reply

I am sad about this :(
Hmm, what a big promo. I think I will find something there to purchase.

It still wouldn't be Earth 2140 if I didn't already own it. While GOG added the DOS version that has working AI (in the contrast to Windows version - I like how GOG claims DOs version has enhanced AI while it came out before windows version and it wasn't hard to outrank as the AI doesn't work there at all) after numerous complaints (and it took only 3 and 1/2 year) it still runs quite poorly and experience massive slowdowns in DOSBOX.
So unless you want to spend more time fiddling with dosbox setting than with playing and then still end up with almost turn based strategy, I would be careful with purchasing this.

As long as I am here it was always the case.
The quotes show the avatar user had at the moment of being quoted.

Whats the deal with Neptunia? I'm looking to buy it but you guys scare me ... there are some sequels (or dlcs?) (how many?) that wont have gog releases or what?
Thanks for helping!
we are missing like 5 or 4 games with DLC on top of that and I have a very odd feeling we will never get any of them here from the looks of things... :(

No, it's not the avatar shown when being quoted I was referring to but the avatar shown when you are the creator or the topic and you're in the forum view showing the topics list. But I guess that may have the same issue as you've described for quoted posts.
