GOG is supposed to be the place where games are well maintained, especially by GOG's staff. However, while some games are well-maintained (e.g. the Thief or System Shock series), others are left without simple fixes that are available online, or with old Dosbox versions that no longer work on OSX etc.
Writing about these issues in the individual game forums is a waste of time -- you won't get a single response by GOG devs there. We need a way to insert these basic issues into GOG's issue system, so they can be addressed. At the very least, we need a way to get somebody's attention to the relevant forum issue. We want GOG to be the best site at maintaining these games, but that can only happen if GOG helps us helps them.
Additionally, I'm sure many people would volunteer to keep these games up-to-date -- this is a job that can be outsourced to dedicated fans. GOG just needs to create the infrastructure for it.
