nepundo: Would the likes of X-Com: UFO Defense be planet-locked because, you know, graphical violence and extermination of aliens not suitable for aliens under 18?
under 18 what? Why would an arbitrary number, even if related to the specific time a random backwater planet takes to go around its sun be of any importance to the democratic order of planets?
That's why some people say we both are same guy with multiple accounts :P

I just chose a random number that happens to be the same random number that some authorities in our planet use to randomly screw us. (That's the only logical explanation I find for age restrictions on Earth: randomness.)

However, I wonder whether that's really random or a hard-coded value in the simulation I'm sure we live in... Hmmm... Must be random, because we know that everything hard-coded is 42. (Which would probably make more sense as an age limit on Earth, by the way.)

P1na: How does the democratic order of planets feel about visual novels? Can I carry some as extra since they are often not considered to be real games?
Wellll, you could risk it, but that's totally up to you :) If it works let me know for in case I ever get summoned. I'll have to get the complete Tintin, Asterix, Calvin & Hobbes, Garfield and Far Side Gallery collections ready to go in a big duffel bag.

Well those are all Mars aliens as far as I know so I'm not sure. I doubt whether Mars is part of doop though so it's should be ok. After all, they are guilty of horrific genetic and cybernetic experiments on humans and other alien species.

Morrowind + mods
Dwarf Fortress Lazy Newb Pack + latest release
Pillars of Eternity
Alpha Centauri
Majesty

That said, I'm way more likely to just grab my backup HD which has all my music, books, documents and game installers. From a space/weight perspective it's all the same.
Do total conversion mods count as separate games? How are they going to keep us alive for 200 years? Will there be monetary compensation for jury duty and if yes in what currency and will it afterwards be earth compatible/transferable?

No I don't think conversion mods count as separate games, which is great since I'm taking M&B:Warband and it has some awesome total conversion mods.
They aren't going to keep us alive for 200 years I'm afraid. But those that are still alive after 200 years will be returned home. Frankly humans with their short lifespans are a poor choice for this particular legal case. This is a bureaucratic oversight on the part of doop.
There will be compensation in Decapodian currency which, since Decapod 10 is a member of doop, may be exchanged for earth dollars. I don't know the exchange rate though.

Uhm, I suppose, if you are ok with a couple months/years worth of ping. I'm not sure how far Decapod is from Earth.
I prefer to die with my planet (my most preferred games are not all on GoG).
The GOG only limitation actually helps:

1- Planescape Torment (If I could only take one it would be this)
2- Knights of the old republic
3- Pillars of Eternity
4- Baldur's Gate II
5- Vampire the masquerade bloodlines

HEY!!! You are cheating. I would have said a totalwar game too but they are not on GOG :))

There is always someone who has to show up and ruin it with a serious answer. :P
Hm, I tried to come up with an honest answer, but in the end nothing really seems satisfactory to me ...

My first impulse would be to take Neverwinter Nights (ideally both, but at the very least the first one) and also Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures, because those offer enough for a lifetime if you play and create custom modules. But then you'd probably tell me there's no internet access to download modules or research building advice, and there are no other people that would play any potential creations of mine either, so it would become rather pointless.

The next idea would be to take those games that I'm eager to play now and that I haven't played through yet, like Dreamfall Chapters or Divinity: Original Sin. But those would only last a few weeks at best. Because even if they turn out to be my favorite games ever - or if I'd pack my favorite games ever instead of them - I just can't imagine not getting bored replaying them over and over again. I like games with story, but I don't like to hear the same story again and again, so it would have to be games without strong story elements that are just about skills like Super Puzzle Platformer, Wacky Wheels, or maybe Ziggurat or something like that. But they sometimes bore me after a couple of hours already.

I just can't picture a scenario where I'd be restricted to playing the same five games over and over again, without friends or internet connection, and actually enjoying it. I think in that case I'd rather do something else entirely. :/

(Or maybe, just maybe, out of sheer desperation I would finally learn to enjoy strategy and building sim games, which right now I'm biased against because they are such time sinks and I'd rather spend the time playing lots of shorter games with story .... But nah, I think I'd get sick of them pretty quickly too.)
