I have looked at the current sale, especially with my apps for keeping tabs on prices.
And though I am struggling with motivation right now, I already know that many many games are cheaper than my records of them show (for the past 3 years anyway).

For a few that I have looked at, and know I would have bought, I am struggling to be bothered. That is how deeply upset I am with GOG.

And to rub salt into the wound, was the fiasco with the seemingly great - The Witcher Goodies Collection.

I already have everything The Witcher, but they made it sound like there was more, and they even made it a separate entry in my game library, so duplicated things.

I was one of those who downloaded some of the Packs, all of which are in the Gbs, all for no reason.
I wonder how many others also did so?
It resulted of course in unnecessary use of the servers during a sale ... how dumb.

Why did they not advise that those of us with the full games already have everything?

And honestly, I am struggling to see why anyone not interested in having the games, would be interested in the extras that come with the games anyway.

So to me, it looks like an exercise to make themselves look good, to those not savvy enough to realize the truth.

I don't deny, that the Concert is worth getting for free if you don't have it and love music. Same for the soundtracks and even artwork and a few short story ebooks, if you love such. Though everything is very Witcher orientated.

So GOG to me has changed, and have lost the plot, because whoever is running things is just working to an agenda.

In further related issues.

Whenever I have the GOG main page open, it sucks up so many resources, that browsing elsewhere is plagued with serious slowness issues ... almost as bad as Galaxy.

I swear that Steam is now better than GOG in this regard, and that is saying something.

Not that I visit Steam much ... just every week or four to grab a free game of check other free games.

I wouldn't go to Steam at all, except I had to buy in (very cheaply) to get the Valve games I love. So once that happened, it opened the doors of sense in regard to freebies, especially as GOG may not last.

Further .....

It is possible that GOG has a situation related to what Epic has been doing with its weekly freebies. I doubt Steam are impacted much, but GOG and probably the Humble store etc are probably feeling the pinch.

So maybe the fate of the GOG Downloader is due to that, and we are going to see more changes because of it, because the disabling of the GOG Downloader is meaningless in isolation.

Considering GOG has deprecated the downloader years ago, that certainly ain't it. I love it when people grasp at straws to justify their nonsense arguments.

Yep, suddenly they stopped supporting it. In fact, they went out of their way to do so ... removing all the old links on library game pages.

Up until then, all the links for it and new games were still working ... Linux ones aside.

They didn't phase it out by not supporting new games ... so no gentle easing as they say.

All in one abrupt moment ... certainly how it would have been for many, as there was not even a proper announcement about it, just a thread by an employee.

Yep, raw and nasty and many of us have friction burns.

Totally agree with thread creator and users who prefer to keep GOG Downloader.

Downloader is a VERY useful and effective tool without any additional functionalities simply for queuing and automatic download of game installers whenever game clients are updated (which happens a lot for people with large library).

Many people are not interested in using the "optional" Galaxy client, or use browser and additional scripts to be able to quickly download their library games and updates.

Taking away an simple, effective (that is working normally) and essential tool from people who use it to manage their large library and installers is unacceptable.

I am GOG user for almost 10 years and have poured hundreds into game purchases on GOG and was planning to make next round of purchases during this sale (more money for GOG, hello?) , but this behavior from GOG puts it on hold, depending how they are going to proceed with Downloader.

If GOG doesn't wish listen to it's users, take away the normally-working convenience away, there is no necessity to continue the "relationship" for the other side as well. I don't want to be downloading tons of separate files through browser or be bound to some client, which is not for download-only.

It was very few of us, if we're being more honest with ourselves, if we go by the wishlist numbers(and even if we add some extra numbers for those who didn't vote yet or don't feel like voting).

So "doing the right thing" is only when they give us things and do what we want? Is that what you're trying to say?

They are a business, they only have to provide us a decent product for a fair price...everything else is a bonus.

I think you went a little too far in the opposite direction, but I can somewhat see why you did.

Yes you do, if you want to be taken seriously by some that is.

What you and a few others are doing is the equivalent of the person in some films wearing a sign saying "the end is nigh!" or similar......it very likely doesn't help anyone much or help anything much to spread such accusations in such a manner(i.e. those saying as if it's fact: "Galaxy WILL be pushed on everyone" or similar....with nothing indicating it's the poster's opinion and not fact).

They are likely keeping quiet for two reasons: To avoid saying anything that might give them bad PR(if people take it too harshly and/or the wrong way), and ALSO because they probably think(and are likely right) that some won't be happy no matter what they say at this point.

This is likely true, but it is also true for most businesses.....they are BUSINESSES after all....here to make money, not to(primarily) be our friends.

They DID give everyone 5 or so years(less if one signed up after that), though.

They gave everyone around one more week...they didn't just "pull the plug".

I DO AGREE 100%, though, that it should've been a news post/posted more prominently, AND that staff should've answered more questions/posts.
