What is the source for dec 1995?

Wikipedia says this:
"Initially targeted for a December 1995 release (thus giving the game an aggressive 12-month development schedule), the game was ultimately released on February 12, 1996 for MS-DOS PCs."

But it isn't sourced either. What is sourced is sales data from feb 1996 stating it was the best selling game at that time.

"PC Data, which tracked computer game sales in the United States, ranked Wing Commander IV at #1 for the month of February 1996.[12]"

Maybe someone here got it on release and remembers?

I was hoping for WarCraft 4 when I clicked :'-( (maybe hell froze over?)
According to the Fan site CIC Wing Commander IV MSDOS original version was released in 1996-02-04 (February 4th 1996?)

Me too, and i was also ready to make a stupid joke about Wing Commander 4's original release date.

Now all my plans are foiled.

Naw. WC# was always Wing Commander. When referring to Warcraft, it was always War#.

teceem:
Me too. =(

I'll be honest in that I have never tried WoW. It would be nice if there was a single player version of it.

The only MMO that I ever got into was Guild Wars since it let you essentially go it alone if you wanted.

No Warcraft 4 to be found here unfortunately.
