Heya,

I am planning to make a giveaway this winter and i am trying to learn "every" way to make that happen. My plan is to collect games while they are on sale and then gift them at once on my birthday. 27th of December. I searched forums and read the topic "gifting for dummies" and the only way that seems to work is like this step by step.

1. Gift the game that is on sale to your own e-mail address.
2. Copy the code in that email.
3. Do the steps 1 and 2 for each game.
4. pm these codes to winners.

My question is, I was hoping for a way to buy these games as a gift and store in your account somewhere and then directly gift to someone without dealing with the codes. Forexample:

1. Buy the game as gift. (it says in your account)
2. When winners are chosen, select that game in your account,
3. Choose "Gift now"
4. Type the winners account name.
5. Click "send"

This way the person will get the game as soon as it is decided. Wouldnt it be cool? Is there a system similar to this on GOG?

Regards.
Engin.

No.

But it's not hard to manage giveaways. You copy the code from your account page, paste it into a message. Done. So unless GOG implements something like that (and, seriously, do not hold your breath) you're going to have to do some ctrl-c, ctrl-v for your giveaway. It'll take you but moments.
You can't do it.

The closest thing is looking at your unredeemed gifts under Account ---> Orders and Setting, choose the game you want to gift and then choose "Resend gift code" to send it to an email address of your choosing.

Of course in order to do that you need to ask the winner email via chat, much simpler to just give him the code.
You don't need to copy the codes from those emails. You can also find them directly in your account, under "Orders & Settings". Copy them there, it's much faster.

Thank you. My concern is not time or if its hard to do. I want the redeemers to be exactly the person i decided. I dont want person "Mr_Pizza" to win and then send the code to Miss_Spagetti. If Mr_Pizza won the lottery, he should get it.

I hope its clearer now.

Right. So say that a rule of your giveaway is "no regifting of codes" and that should not happen. Most of the time people are willing to follow the rules of the giveaway.
Thank you all for taking your time to answer me.

Special thanks to Infra. I didnt know that i could also see the code in "orders" menu. Thank you very much. That was very helpful.

I know wat u mean. If I'm right I dun think we r able 2 gift a game directly into another member's account of our choice directly as of now unfortunately, I guess the best that u can do is wat OneFiercePuppy suggested, putting a 'No regifting of code/s' in ur future giveaway & hope/pray that person is not a scammer that redeems it 2 another account or sell/trade it away.

Or u can try asking GOG support if there is any way 4 them 2 help u 'transfer' that game u bought 2 that particular member's account. Not sure if that's feasible but it might be worth a shot. ;)
I send the gifts to my own e-mail address and then print out the e-mails, and keep them in a folder.

And by that, I mean an actual folder, on my actual desk.

Ultra-low tech, but I can thumb through them quickly.

Still have that one code with over $300 of games on it sittin' around..... ;)
Speaking of the devil, the games i wanted to gift are on sale. LOL. Time to put our knowledge into good use.
OK, I just bought 7 games from the weekend deal.

Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate 2
Planescape Torment
Neverwinter Nights
Neverwinter Nights 2
Icewind Dale
Icewind Dale 2

Wait for 4 months. 7 people will be lucky.
If you bought them all in one transaction, you probably only got one code for the games, right? In this case, you'll have to leave it up to a trust exercise, because in order to give someone one game, they would have access to the entire code. IAmSinistar did a large giveaway less than a year ago where people won games from a bulk code, and it went ok, so you shouldn't have trouble. Just letting you know that you should probably indicate if all the games are on one code, so that people know they'll be taking turns peeling games off a shared code.

I bought each game individually so I have 7 mails thus 7 codes. Everyone will be getting separate game.
