Breja: I honestly have no idea in what way Lower Deck was "faithful" to anything. It's a show with nothing to say, nothing interesting to show about characters who are all either annoying assholes or incompetent assholes or annoying, incompetent assholes, and who all have absolutely no place in Star Trek canon. And as a comedy it's never funny, all it has is a delusion that dickish characters talking fast will somehow make lame writing funny. And there is probably nothing I find more unbearable to watch than unfunny comedy. It's like every bad joke saps the joy out of me.

Darvond: The way this reads honestly sounds like a Space Station 13 cartoon, but with the actually funny parts removed. Where's the buttbots? The 25 Exawatt hellburn that literally melts a ship?
I'm sorry, I've no idea what you're talking about and I'm not watching a 1,5 hour let's play to find out :D

LootHunter: Well, I can - it's about how annoying assholes (who absolutely DID exist in Star Trek canon) trying to fit in the crew of Federation starship. Mariner deals with her issues with authority figures (and don't tell me that her holodeck episode wasn't about dealing with her issues), Bouimler learns to bend the rules, Tandy is an example how you can serve in more ways than one.

And while I agree with you on the quality of humor is extremely low, at least the series has a lot of references to classic shows that DO make sense, unlike STD and Picard that always try to put every Roddenberry's idea on its head.
Well, if you got all that from the show... good for you I guess. To be honest, I didn't even watch the whole season, I just found it too annoying, tedious and unpleasant to force myself. I mean, some people like Discovery, I'm ok with the Kelvin Timeline movies and Picard (for the most part), you're ok with Lower Decks. Whatever, at least everyone is having fun with something, right?

How about this short article?
Well, this thread reminded me that while DS9 originally ran on the BBC here, my life changed a lot - from a surgery, to college to working full time. Never did see the full thing - even trying to catch up later with reruns on other channels.

Just finished a bit of a binge watch over the last couple of weeks and WOW! I forgot just how good it could be. I'll always prefer Babylon 5 for some minor reasons (as space station set sci fi goes), but good gob did this catch up get me emotional - especially with laughing.

I think Quark, Rom and Nog are among my favourite Trek characters now.

Guess I should follow up with Voyager next (only ever saw the first few episodes and then some random ones).

Anyway, thanks for reminding me why I loved this series when I was at school, and thanks for giving me reasons to not only re-live it, but watchthe whole damn thing finally. :)

Edit: does anybody else think an off the wall ferengi set comedy spinoff could have been great?

Edit 2: That is actually probably the only trek series ive definately seen every episode of. prob seen most of TNG and the original series, but still...

Eh... not really. I found the Ferengi episodes very hit and miss. Little Grey Men was great, Body Parts was good, but a lot of them were pretty bad. Profit and Lace is a strong contender for the worst episode of all Trek (it's definitely the worst of DS9).

I think Quark, Rom and Nog were great characters. I absolutely love Nog's character arc. He and Damar have probably the most interesting "from no one to a fascinating, fully fleshed out character" arcs I've ever seen. And Quark is great when he interacts with Odo and some other characters. But the fully Ferengi focused comedy episodes were never the finest hours of those characters (except for maybe Body Parts for Quark).
