Unseelie_Sluagh: Kerberos dev just replied about this.

PAY CLOSE ATTENTION PLZ

GOG has not in any way delayed the current updates and DLC for The Pit. We have been working with GOG for the last few weeks to get The Pit updated for users and it should be live shortly. We, as in Kerberos, could have worked to get it up a little sooner (not a lot sooner) except we made the decision to add GOG's Galaxy API to the game, meaning it will now unlock achievements to your GOG profile like Steam does.

Getting mad at GOG, even if they carried any blame, accomplishes nothing. It actual slows things down.

SO, we appreciate everyone's passion in the matter and doubly appreciate everyone's patience. You will all have the latest code and DLC in no time at all.

thank you,

c

haydenaurion: Maybe we wouldn't have "gotten mad" if anyone had bothered to put out an explanation earlier. -_-
Yeah I hear ya. The dev sounded angry but what did they expect since everyone's been so silent on the issue? My guess is the dev saw not only the posts about it on their forums, but here as well. I have a feeling this thread creeping out to four pages by that time finally caused them to speak up.

So the reason the game hasn't been updated for the last year was because of achievements?... This is one of the reasons why I'd prefer that developers didn't waste time and other resources on achievements, they don't improve the game play in any way for me personally and in this specific instance it lead to this situation. Do all of you still think achievements are worth these kind of delays???

Anybody else remember when game patches used to be provided on the publisher's website and the patches worked without regard to where the game was purchased?
Kerberos did claim that they had already sent the last patch to GOG in another thread. I guess GOG doesn't want to bother with the patch if they know that the entire suite will be Galaxy-ready soon (tm)?

Small publishers can be pretty derpy at communications and PR. If I didn't have some understanding of how hard it was, I might be angrier. I'm still sort of disappointed, but relieved that we know who's behind on what.

Still would like to see Kaiju-a-Gogo get the GOG treatment, whenever they can rig that up. Like next year, at this rate, lulz.

I'm with you there. Same with expansions. I could buy a game from the sale bin at a local supermarket, then years later buy its expansion from some online store. What we've got now feels actually a bit like DRM, what with GOG checking your online account's library for the base game before letting you buy (and ultimately run) an expansion or "DLC". That's one form of platform lock-in at least, and I have zero appreciation for it. Yeah, patches and additions should work no matter where you bought the game from :-(

Totally agree on the part about achievements and other nonsense as well. I couldn't care any less for them -- I know some do, but damn, give us the GAME FIRST. I'm not going to run Galaxy anyway.

gabranth99: yes the lying would be in regards to SOTS 2 with there its paradox's fault the games broken, paradox won't let us up update it and promising to fix the game its still broken.
All I can find is a post by the Kerberos chief in which he says it is NOT Paradox fault. So enlighten me.
According to a recent reply, it looks like Gamergate never released the 1.5.5 patch or the new DLC either.

So once again gamers were crying like little babies...

How unusual...
Another one of those topics. I always get the feeling people want to see evil in something despite there being no malicious intentions at all.

Possible reason why the patch was never released

1. bad communication between dev & gog
2. the patch did not contain much fixes at all which brings me to point 1.

Which is the dev postponed the patch to work on a new patch that has more content to it. Miscommunication or something along those lines.

Give me 1 sane reason for GOG to not WANT to bring out patches for games.

Which thread was that? At least the thread which was linked here before just mentioned about having contacted GOG, nothing about having already sent a patch to GOG. Was it some other thread then?

Same thread further up, actually:

"We have done it many times"

I guess that's supposed to mean that they contacted a bunch of times, but it isn't until the bottom of the thread that another employee mentions that they're trying to get Galaxy to work. So that's sort of a mess.

obviously because kerberos dev deletes everything after he goes of on one like like before.

Yes, that was the "we have contacted many times", right? So they have been in touch with GOG several times about what to do with the patches.

Since they said so little and vaguely, it doesn't also say if they've been contacting over a year or did they get more active recently (where all those several contacts come from) etc.

Hey, that's only human, I also recall using that at work sometime in the past, ie. when I was reminded of some old task that's been pending (e.g. I just forgot about it), I first sent a query about it to 3rd parties and right after that I send an email "Yeah I have already asked about it but I haven't received a reply yet, maybe I need to ask again...". Technically I didn't lie, but I implied something which wasn't quite the case (as if I have sent a query already some time ago).

synfresh: So in other words, Galaxy is once again to blame.
It is the damn Steam-fanatics who require clients, achievements, auto-updating etc. So it is actually Steam's fault then.
