I can find two resources listing censored games on GOG, the community wiki and an old thread, are these up to date or are there other games? GOG ask us not to use VPN and proxy to circumvent regional pricing, but this policy does not sit well with censorship. Not happy about this, everyone should be able to get uncensored editions without fear of account sanctions.

Those games that you list are censored... for all. GOG doesn't offer uncensored versions of these games. Currently, regional blocking prevents an Australian from purchasing Hotline Miami 2 and a German from purchasing the Commandos games. Also, if you are Australian, you get a midly censored version of Witcher 2.

So then: how does an Australian customer download an uncensored version of TW2 (and TW3?) without breaking GOG's policy? same question for Germans re Commandos. Presumably a gift copy from elsewhere ends up censored when added to the account?

How does an Australian customer obtain Hotline Miami 2 on GOG? gift only? VPN/proxy?
i don't get why the hell childrens got removed from fallout games, but in deus ex you can kill them and its avaible everywhere

I'm only objecting to your quote of "Not happy about this, everyone should be able to get uncensored editions without fear of account sanctions". The only game that has been slightly altered, is Witcher 2 in Australia and this can be bypassed without the usage of VPN (just set your country to anything other than Australia in your settings before buying the game/redeeming a giftcode).

The blocking only prevents someone from seeing the game's page. Germans who had Commandos before the regional locks went into effect (as well as Germans who received the game as a giftcode, afterwards), can still download the game from their accounts. Same case with Australians.

At this rate the wishlist will all be merged into "we want achievements!!!" by summer. :)

Grargar: I'm only objecting
Not sure why you would object to this sentiment, it's a rational response to the issue and I asked what else is affected. Changing the region setting is also an uncomfortable solution.

It's the thin end of the wedge.

Even if this affects only a handful of games now, it may not be the case in future. What happens if/when more games are subject to censorship? what happens if/when the loophole is closed due to abuse? It's easy to foresee the scenario where the only way to avoid censorship is use stronger measures.

I'm objecting because:
a) you show a list of games that are censored
b) say that everyone should be getting uncensored editions

The thing is, that there are no uncensored editions of the games shown above on GOG. Not for me, not for you and not for anybody else. It's not regional censorship, but censorship in general.

Maybe, but is it against GOG's policy? If yes, then I could see this as being a problem.

I think that was less a general censorship thing and more of the fact that the censored UK version was the most up to date version of the game. Granted it still doesn't explain why GOG couldn't just use the fan made patch that put the kids back in.

I think this has come up before, requests for GOG to host community patches, mods etc. but there are legal implications and it's difficult or impossible. It's a shame, it would be awesome if agreements could be reached with publishers to allow the best community work to be hosted by GOG for easy downloading and adding to our games.
I wonder if anyone has restored the floppy version graphics to the CD version of Gobliiins and put up a nude patch? GOG ships both versions, after all.

I'm... uh... asking for a friend, of course.
