I've seen on other sites where bunches of crap is getting flagged with viruses when they don't have them. Give it 24 hours and recheck it and it will be gone probably.

3 of 66 never heard about AV vendors.

Yes, it is false positive...

One even with the "AI Detected Malware"

If some AV tells you its Heuristik detected something bad it is like 99,9% of the time bullshit.
But now "AI" to sound more "reliable"?

I would ditch every AV that does come up with that message...

Yeah, and what they are looking for who knows. Could be Byte X and Y, and then Z 33 bytes later at a specific combo. But more than that it isn't even scanning in the file(s) if it's an archive.

And saying "AI" doesn't mean it's intelligent, that's a misnomer and i wish they'd give it a different name, like WE (Weighted Estimations), then the next generation will be less likely to think something actually has thoughts of it's own.
I wouldn't be surprised if GOG Galaxy appeared on a list of PUAs (potentially unwanted applications). :-P
But that's not the same as malware of course. GOG Galaxy is most certainly clean as long as you downloaded it from the official source and not some shady place on the internet.

Doesn't some AVs, Microsoft's included, flag e.g. many cracks as malware, for the sake of being cracks? Or so I've heard...

Next e.g. open source console emulators might get flagged as malware, because why not?

MS Defender has a habit of taking issue with anything one complies with MinGW. Most likely any non-MSVC compiled (unsigned) binary is treated as public enemy number one.

Technically correct, the best kind of correct :P. At least to some people it is very unwanted.

Oh well. It's probably a crapware antivirus that's as bad as having malware itself.

Who cares about shady AVs from China (Antiy - seems to be mostly for Android even...) or Vietnam (Bjav).

Or something (Cylance) that - eh, just quoting Wikipedia - already hilarious enough.

"McClure claims that Cylance's antivirus product does not use security features, such as unique signatures, heuristics, behavioral analysis, sandboxing, virtualization, or blacklisting."

To be honest, heuristic and behavioral analysis are most of the time are fucked up to the point they have to be restricted by enormous whitelisting or they have to be toned down to a point not being that good anymore.
And if you want to find a way around that stuff, you will...
The other stuff - hm...

But:
"Rather, the product claims to use artificial intelligence to identify and stop attackers. McClure claims that its security features are similar to the human brain's way of identifying threats, wherein it "teaches" computers to identify indicators of an attack."

That is the "coffee is now in the keyboard" stuff you can find from time to time.
No wonder it fucks up.
