Darvond: Metaphor, not physical, I presume.
Metaphor?

Well, the way I was viewing it, a lot of game reviewers lost their moxie, charm, and touch.

Ah. Yes. I see it now. :)

Darvond: I'll cautiously suggest Yahtzee/Zero Punctuation if you want a caustic critic. There is also Jim Sterling, but some people would find him a bit of a large ham, but he does still do written articles.
Zero Punctuation was the only channel I was following apart from The Cynical Brit. And as much as I regret TB's absence in GOG's events now, I wish they'd involve Yahtzee. Still, I hardly consider him a reviewer. His videos are a bit informative, but a bit too lol-oriented to be much more than entertainment, and also he very seldom reviews games that I'm curious about.

And yeah, Jim Sterling is way too much about the Jim Sterling character, and (although I don't remember ever disagreeing with him, for the few videos I had watched) I tire very, very fast of such personality shows and their 90% of look-at-me.

Anyway, this thread is favorited. I'm checking reviews on each one of the mentionned series.

This is fair. I honestly look into no commentary plays and form my own opinions or glean a game from this very forum, like ToME.

Telika: So, the question is : Does anyone come close ?
No.

Telika: *snip*
Another point you missed but probably is only important to few people like myself is that TB was a really good speaker so I could understand him easily. He didn't mumble, spoke too fast or in a dialect/slang that I as a non-native English speaker do not understand.

Yes. Like, a lot. Though I personally prefer text reviews to video.
ACG is the only modern game reviewer that I've found useful. GGGLives is good for an FPS-centric focus. Mandalore Gaming is fun for retro-reviews. Lazy Game Reviews is also a good reviewer, although he doesn't particularly focus on reviews and I don't care about The Sims as much as he does.

When I want to just see gameplay footage, I like to check out Highretrogamelord (although for a brief time he would include a quick rating at the end of the video). He's just exhaustively cataloguing various classic systems. Dry but can come in very handy.
If you're interested in written reviews, I make reviews for King's Quest games and also Space Quest games

Another vote for Karak's ACG here. I don't really follow any reviewers, I just check random review videos about games I'm interested in, but I occasionally happen upon his channel and his reviews are always informative and helpful, and he doesn't make a big fuss about himself and instead concentrates on the games. (Mostly referring to his "Buy, Wait for Sale, Rent, Never Touch?" series)

The guy from the infamous Freeman's Mind series makes some great videos :
