In case anyone is still interested, the entire series is currently on sale on steam at 75-85% off:
https://store.steampowered.com/developer/shiravune/sale/utawarerumono

I have only bought the first game in the series and I can report that it appears to be DRM-free and client-free, if one uses the Goldberg DLL.

You'd better remove that link before the GOG Police get you. They don't like links to other stores, even if that store can beat up their store.

What dose appears to be DRM-free mean? So it's only DRM free with work around?

I don't think that's an issue here, as the games are not available on GOG.

I'm free to link all of Zoom's exclusives, then? :)

No, don't link ZOOM exclusives. GOG might want to sell the same game as ZOOM after seeing their awesome exclusives. Then, under cute ZOOM again. Jk

But I think you're right about posting the link. You can talk about the store, but not post links if I'm correct.

As far as I can determine, the game is DRM-free. However, it looks for the steam client by default --- to make it client-free, one has to replace the steam api DLL with an emulated api DLL (a.k.a. the Goldberg DLL).

So it still has steam lite DRM. Does it still look for steam even when you don't have the client installed? Without using the DLL.

Yes it is. GOG doesn't allow links to any other game store pages any more, period. They used to, but not any more.

Steam has two levels of nuisance:
1) There is the steam DRM
2) There is the steam client

1) The game does not use the steam DRM, as far as I can see.

2) The game does look for the steam client. If the client is not installed (which is my case, as I have never installed the steam client), the game refuses to run. If one replaces the steam DLL in the game directory with an emulated one, as mentioned above, the game runs without any problem that I can see.

Its still a form DRM, it's using. Good to know a simple DLL can stop it from happening. Thank you for the info.

I still have steam client installed. Much as I dislike it there are tons of games that do not work without it. I used that DLL before without much success on my games. But thank you again.

Edit: I tired the DLL again with two of my fav strategy games, DOW 2 and COH2. Both did not work again. :(

Besides the wishlist links in the first post, this one applies to a related game: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/monochrome_mobius_rights_and_wrongs_forgotten
