Well I just saw the specs. for Alan Wake 2 Daniel Owen's YT revealed them.

Apparently DLSS is mandatory even for lowest specs. which is like 6600 and nVidia equivalent, this is to hit 60 FPS with even minimum bells and whistles.
Gah it seems like this lazy programming of relying on DLSS is going to become par for the course, at least for some devs.
edit: I guess the message is shut up and play with DLSS or wait to upgrade to RX8000 or RTX 5000 to play Alan Wake native.

Looks like the game is targeting 30 FPS at 1080p low settings, no ray tracing for an RX 6600/RTX 2060. If you want 60 FPS at 1080p medium settings, they say you need a 3070 or a 6700 XT; again, no ray tracing.

Weirdly they don't list the requirements for 1080p high settings, only for low and medium, and for ray tracing/path tracing.

Path tracing proves they are being lazy and don't want to optimize as much.
The practice of making games that can't run on modern hardware isn't exactly new (see: Crysis). Not that it excuses the behavior, it's frankly bad practice and anti-consumer, but there's always been precedent for it. Maybe the biggest problem though is that due to improvements in technology over time, when we reach a point where path tracing is finally doable on reasonable hardware, modern games will not only look better but run better than games that tried to be "future proof" and force a technology before it was ready.

Yeah. Pathtracing wastes so much hardware power imo right now to get minimal results. They will have to build more specialization of hardware to get Pathtracing really working well imo.

i'm really grabbing a 1080p monitor ((=around 250e) cause i need my gsync and hdr) for those demanding 2080s and 3070+'s 1080p 60 hz recommendations.
