I am really confused. I just purchased this for 2 or 3 bucks.

Found out there is no way to save until you reach a certain point and then even when you get to that certain point there is no way to manually save!

At one point you have to open these pillars to continue the game (there are 4 of them on a small island you get transported to) which I did, so to see if the game was saved I quit and started again. Well when I started again it brought me to the little island and the pillar was closed and I can't open it again!!!

I don't always sit down and play a game for hours on end, sometimes only for a couple of hours so this game is useless to me unless someone has a solution.

You could check the series forum for a thread on the matter, like this one. Or do a search, for an official answer... Or the threads on other stores, but I guess I can't link to those anymore.

Basically yeah, you don't save manually in that game, you need to first reach an area and find an item, then it should autosave. That's how it was designed, devs wanting to be infuriating I guess...

Thanks... :)
Since we're talking about Uru, wasn't there a fan maintained online version that had even more content than this version here on gog and was free? I never tried it (I had already finished the gog version so the interest just wasnt't there anymore), but I remember browsing through their site.

Since I don't know if I can link to it, just look up Myst Online: Uru Live. Seems to still be up, though forums were switched to read only in Jan 2020 because of the outdated software that was failing and required manual interventions, and they didn't bother to move to a newer one. (Hoping that won't give GOG ideas...)

Nice to see it's still up after all these years. :)
