Hello, I just got the message at the start of Galaxy that the update failed and that I could upgrade it via the site. The Client which is accessible on the site is outdated, though and I hesitate to uninstall and reinstall it again, because that previously caused some problems due to the windows service. I couldn't find an option to upgrade via the client itself. Can I force it to retry the update or is there another page where I can download the latest version manually?

It doesn't need to be updated actually it is a bug that has been with galaxy for MANY versions the game still updates properly when it needs to.
I've just started to see this message now also, i'm running 1.1.19 (beta). The download is 1.1.19.12 but says it is older than the currently installed version.

"Your GOG Galaxy couldn't update to the newest version, and is outdated now. To have all the new features and improvements you need to install the new version manually from www.gog.com/galaxy"

Just thought i'd post to give feedback :)

I made the mistake of "following directions. And "updated" from the site, only to have "configuration errors" as when you search folders the game doesn't just say "oh! it's there". It was to go through the whole installation process!

This leaves me with being able to play the game from a desktop shortcut, but not in GOG Galaxy! Ridiculous!

In my case I uninstalled and reinstalled the Galaxy client, and found out my games were "gone".
This was because I renamed the Installation folder of the Client with an "Games" folder in it.
So I replaced the Games folder and put it in the new folder. After that clicked on the Game title in the library and clicked "Manage Installation" to import the current Games folder for that title.
After that the files where verified and updated automatically.
The Game Library filled again with my Game titles, and after launching it the saved progress was still there.

Yes, but compare what you had to do with Steam. GOG could do better. And even verifying can take hours if you have lots of games installed....!

Just wanted to point out there is a way to restore the Games. However, the guys at Gog.com released the version 1.2.23 update which maybe resolve the issue. Check the Changelog!

Will check it and hope. But it has existed for so long I am not confident. But I DO appreciate you're advice. :)

Today my Galaxy updated from 1.2.23 > 1.2.24 and indeed this time the update process was smooth and quick, so the default installation location issue should be resolved definitely.
And also comes with the update 'Galaxy will no longer lose games when updated from version 1.1.30 to latest :)'.
But what if a version is bugged and you have to reinstall? That was my problem. Uninstall and reinstall Steam and nothing is needed. Same with Galaxy and all your games get re-verified. Just have to hope I don't have to unistall Galaxy due to a buggy update again! :)
