Blade of Darkness is a hardcore fantasy action-adventure with unique combat mechanics and role-playing elements that pioneered the “soulsborne” genre. We pick one of four characters and embark on a hack and slash, gory quest to save the world from the forces of Chaos.

This re-release of a true genre-defining classic originally created in 2001 has been now re-engineered to work on modern PC hardware, with upscaled textures, added widescreen support up to 4K resolution, improved anti-aliasing, HDR, bloom, motion blur, reworked camera, added gamepad support and improved overall stability. At the same time, the gameplay, content, and the story are untouched — featuring all the game’s quirks and charm.

And to make things even better, there’s never been a better time to experience its brilliance as until March 22nd, 9 AM UTC, you can grab Blade of Darkness with a -50% discount!

No time to waste, make full use of this bargain and check out the update now!
Another reminder that, with the current version vsub29 of Blade of Darkness GoG is essentially selling a defective, non-functioning game.

For Pete's sake, just reinstate the offline installers for the previous version v109 (BEFORE the weekend) that still works, while a fix/patch is being worked on. Surely can't be that hard.

The game is already functional, according to the triggered update size *0,1 Mb" My guess is that it was just an overlook or just a simple configuration for the GOG version. Anyway Now I see that the game folder is organizad differently so probably previous saves will need to be moved into the new "blade/save" folder
Vsub29b is now available. There is no offline patch, so you'll have to download the whole thing again.

I checked this one real quick. The game did launch fine again.

Hey, at least it's not CP2k77 sized, that said, mine has yet to update!

EDIT: Looks like I had to manually add it for updating via the manage the installation menu.

Yup, appears to be working now.
May be I'm missing something, but how can you move backwards while still facing in forward? Every time I press S (back button), the character turns around, and that's not what I need. Or it's not possible by design?

UPDATE:

Ah, I figured. It works during combat / locked mode, but not outside of it.

This game is a pre souls game but it is not so hard as expected, you just need to be familiar with your contronls,be familiar with the combos you are able to do depending the weapon you wield and relax, be focused and enjoy. Now I am enjoying it much more than in the past. Its difficulty is much more balanced than it is said about it.

I recommend the girl for the first gameplay.

Started playing as a Dwarf, and that first Orc is really tough.

The low mobility for the dwarf can be tricky, the agility of the amazon (and one particular combo) definitely helps.

I always saw the character you choose as the difficult levels, based in my experience the scale would be something like this:

Amazon (Easy) > Barbarian (Normal) > Dwarf and Knight (Hard)

Back in the day my first play-trough was with the barbarian and it wasn't a smooth one, for my second game I choose the amazon and that run helped me to better understand how the game works, so future runs were lot more enjoyable that the first one even with characters that could be more difficult to use.

Really?

I'd say Amazon (Easy) > Knight (Normal) > Dwarf (Hard) > Barbarian (Nightmare).

Tukaram is just so slow and clunky.
Funny. In my opinion:

Barbarian (easy) > Amazon (normal) > Knight (hard) > Dwarf (very hard)
