Hey guys this is my first time using GOG. Yesterday I got the free copy of Syberia and installed it. GOG also got installed. I installed Syberia 1 then and Windows asked me to install DirectPlay also. But now after playing for a while I am bored and I decided to uninstall the game and GOG both. Its my office laptop and I uninstalled GOG/Syberia from "Add or Remove Programs" of windows, yet my Local Disk C is consuming 4gb+ of extra space from yesterday(so its probably GOG,Syberia and DirectPlay consuming space somewhere).

Can anyone please guide me how to completely remove the game's trace along with GOG so that I can get my 4gb space back, it was my mistake installing a game on my office laptop. Help is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Did you grab an offline installer instead and forgot about it in your Downloads or temp folder?

GOG automatically downloaded the setup for me. It was Galaxy setup I guess. Then I installed it. Inside there then it asked me to install Syberia game which I did. Rest I have deleted the setup download from my Downloads folder today. It was of few Mbs.

Direct play is a small, backwards compatability feature of windows that helps running of old games. It is tiny and is not what is taking up 4gb. There are some tools to help:
Use geekuninstaller, free portable tool which does a better offer of uninstalling things, and windows components.
Ridnacs, free protable tool for showing the size of folders and files.

In terms of what you have done, you need to uninstall the game, and uninstall galaxy, and clear up any installer files. Plus you might have files in temporary areas, you can right click on the drive, and go to cleanup:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/disk-cleanup-in-windows-10-8a96ff42-5751-39ad-23d6-434b4d5b9a68
That will help cleaning up temporary files.

For future, note that you don’t need galaxy, you can hover over your username, select library, then a game, and you will see offline installers. Download the exe and possibly bin files, these you can backup offline, and use those to install. Smaller.

So, is it fixed or not?

If not, try running Disk Cleanup (in elevated mode if possible) and delete temporary files.
did you clean out your temp folder?
Galaxy may have left some files over in your PC's Temp folder.

I was under the impression, as explained by others, that Galaxy downloads game files directly to the game folder of each game, but that may not be the case. Galaxy might download to a temp folder, and extract (uncompress) from there to the game folder. If so, then it should have cleaned up after itself, but may not have for some reason (i.e. AV).

Another suspect maybe, is any game Saves left behind. Generally these are pretty small, but you never know.

Well I have cleaned the temp folder, it was of some less than 150 mbs. I have manually deleted the GOG Galaxy folder from my C. Then I also laid search in my drive to find out folders related to gog, galaxy, syberia and found some more folders and deleted them. But unfortunately I haven't gotten my space yet.
Maybe I need to test some software now as others suggested.
Thank you for confirmation that galaxy still leaves a mess.

About your 4GB lost, it is possible that when you have installed galaxy, windows created restore point.

Don’t know, could be any number of things. There were windows updates recently. Do you have other software installed, could be updates there. Did you get .net installed, or c++ extensions. 4gb isn’t a whole lot of space. Couple of tips:
Never install anything to program files or x86.
Cleanup %appdata% after uninstall.
Only keep what you need installed.
