Is anyone still playing ultima 9 ascension

Quite possible, there is a lot of people out there, maybe one of them is playing it. Any other random questions without point?

Yes, but look at the raft of travesties out there being played to death, GTA4, COD 4 and above, Diablo 3, Man of WAr Corsair, anything made in gamemaker, ad infinitum.

My fondest memory is of 7 and SI, but 6 was also good.

I know that it had many bugs and the story is inconsistent but the various patches(official and unofficial)made it better.The unnofial patch i dont know what good it makes but it takes away the bag-invisibility from all monsters "bug" and that is the reason that i dont use it (or all the monsters that see you they would attack you and your travels through the world would be a constant fight with monsters).Thats my only problem(a gigantic one)with the patch 1.19.I finished the game even with 1.18f patch.It is a massive adventures with many different places and people,monsters,quests,riddles and it just need someone with computer and programming skills to make a patch that corrects all(or more)problems that remained unfinished.But not the bag-Invisible(when you had a bag open all the time)or even the blackrock sword at trinsic.

I will come to the OPs defense a little. While I don't think U9 is the greatest game ever, I do think it gets WAAAAAY more crap than it deserves.

Why? Get 5 and forget 4. 4 had everything dull and boring about the others, with the excitement, storyline and such like dragged out of it, and with added R*social club elements. Nothing good about it whatsoever. Suprisingly 5 is actually very good.

I don't currently have the money or the bandwidth for 5, and I have this weird fixation with playing games in order.

Also, after the hell I went through getting 4 installed and running, I don't care how bad it is, I'M PLAYING IT! :P

Good luck. I brought it on day 1 release for £40 or something like that. Spent days getting it to work, with calls to R*. FInally got it to work for around 1.5h before it conked out again never to re-awaken. Many years later I downloaded a cracked version which worked, played it for a bit, realised it was total arse and deleted it. Hard copy has gone into the bin. I wouldn't buy anything R* related again (note I played 5 elsewhere, didn't buy it myself - but would if they dropped all the online rubbish).

Oh I got it working. The Steam version actually installed fine. The DVD I had I eventually gave up on; that was a joke.

All the games you mentioned seem great(i like though fantasy,swords,bows,magic and such games)some of the games you mentioned i see in the evening news(guns,pistols,grenades and such)but the difference and one criteria that i am interested in is that when ultima 9 requires just 1.2 gb space in hard drive and has massive gameplay all of the mentioned game above need at least 20 gb of hard drive space and their gameplay sometimes is poor.There are some games that need 50!!!!!!! gb of hard drive space.If this is not a travesty(1,2gb----50gb)then what is.

Rockstar does nothing for me. That said, I recently downloaded the PSN store version of The Warriors, and despite the dated graphics, blatant misogyny and drug usage, I'm having a bit of fun with these hoodlums.

Of that list I have only played hotline Miami and spelunky, didn't think much of either. No idea who this overmars chappie is.
