No clue in regard to "Area 51" (apart from the usual), but "TimeSplitters" is a console exclusive series.
Well, Area 51 is a Midway game. Midway went bankrupt. Warner Bros got the trade mark, and we have Mortal Kombat and Stranglehold here, but what happened to their other IPs, no idea. If they also ended up with WB, ask them. But if the game isn't available anywhere, I'm assuming at least this one didn't, so it's a rights hell issue. Looking at their releases, probably same for The Suffering, which I imagine would be sold if it could, but that's not available either.
Regardless of the feasibility of ever seeing them, here are their dreamlist entries:

* Area 51 (currently 2771 votes)
* Timesplitters (currently 3116 votes)

I'd buy an Area 51 rerelease. Maybe the problem is legal because of the famous actors/voices used in the game.

Make sure you vote on the Dreamlist!
Area 51 was made freeware in 2008 or so. You can download legit full version from many places hosting it, like moddb, itch.io or archive.org

Huh, indeed. There seems to also be a restoration project for it (or two, that also links to the other one).

But what I find is that it was released freeware sponsored by the US Air Force, along with The Suffering (so that also explains that not being sold) and Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War.

It depends on what you mean by "console exclusive"...

If you get Homefront 2 on PC, then hidden within that game is a complete, 4K PC native port of Timesplitters 2, so that one is at least on PC. (It is the only reason to buy that game)

Weird. My understanding was Area 51 and The Suffering were released as adware. By the US Air Force of all things, indeed... O_o

He'll, I actually had both were versions for a time. Ads in the main menu for things like Alienware were quite a sight, tell you that much.

But that version got discontinued. They sold the rights. Hence the reason Suffering could be bought here up until last year.

Both games being freeware is new.
Area 51 (1995) or Area 51 (2005)? The former was not released freeware, but the latter was. As for why none of them are here, well, it's Warner Bros. The same company that would rather remove their old stuff from digital stores (The Suffering) than renewing them.

As for Timesplitters, the series is console-exclusive and cursed. The studio that was responsible for bringing them back was shut down less than 3 years after it was created.

If this is the 2005 FPS game and not the 1995 arcade coin op port. I think it was offered as a freebie on PC at some point.
That's how I got the game and played it many years ago.

I think this is the FPS game which somehow managed to "invert" my brains in that after this game I started playing FPS games with non-inverted (Y) controls, while earlier I had always played all my FPS games with inverted controls. It just somehow felt wrong, almost impossible, to aim with inverted controls in this particular FPS game, and after this game it felt the same to me with all FPS games, including those I had already finished a long time ago with inverted controls.

EDIT: Yeah...

Freeware release

In October 2008 the Windows version of the game was made available free of charge. The download link can be found in the related links section.

The links in that page don't seem to work anymore so maybe it was a limited time freebie offer. I still have the installer though.
