Hello,

When you mouse over game thumbnails, a video starts loading and (usually) shows the game trailer.
Is it possible to turn off the video preview in the store?
I don't think it is an option for now or I can't find it.

In general the feature is nice, but I would like to see the screenshots of the game. Loading the videos takes too long and I find that the trailers of games are a lot less useful to let you see what kind of game it is.

So it would be nice if there are options for the store to turn off the previews completely or an options that lets you choose between video or screenshot.

EDIT: I added a wish to the Community Wishlist to ask for the feature.
Here is the link: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/options_for_game_preview_in_store

I have to admit I didn't even know there was this kind of new feature, before you mentioned it now.

However, I fail to see it as any kind of issue. The only reason I'd hover the mouse over that game icon is to click on it, in order to proceed to the game card (where I can get more info on the game, purchase it etc.). The silent video doesn't affect that at all.

But ok, if it irritates some so much, I guess you can make and vote for the wishlist etc. I will not, I don't see the point.
as for now - install something like umatrix and block youtube requests on gog. Boom - no more annoyances!
(but its a bit of overkill and will break legit trailers too)

It's this unnecessary autoplay so many people are complaining about. Where have you been all this time? :P
A partial solution for this issue: Download the PrivacyBadge extension for your favorite browser. After this, click on the racoon icon and turn the "www.youtube.com" key to the left (red). Refresh the page.

I guess I have heard about it before, but couldn't figure out where it is happening. So ok it is happening in that Store page where you end up when clicking under store.

I guess I just don't understand why it is such a big deal it is there, but okay, I don't have to understand everything. I don't find it either a positive or negative change (to just having icons and that's it), it just is. Maybe GOG felt it makes the store page feel more modern and dynamic, less static.

For me is that it's an unnecessary gimmick that eats up resources and bandwidth. While I don't have data caps, I'd prefer for gog pages to load quicker and be more responsive, and things like that tend to have the opposite effect.

I'm not saying it's a big deal. It's an annoyance of mine (and others apparently, I also was under a rock and didn't think of the term autoplay to search for) and I think it can be solved by the way I proposed. I'm not not going to use the store because of it, but my experience of the store can be better.
It's the same kind of annoyance that I have with Netflix. Everything autoplays, but sometimes I just want to look at a thumbnail or in the case of Netflix: read the text before the movie starts.
And I know: you look with your eyes, not your mouse cursor. It's the age old thing my mother always said to me.
