Perhaps what i'm asking doesn't make sense but i'm looking for something like Heroes of Might and Magic or King's Bounty but without the troops, same type of overworld map, battle system (grid) and fantasy setting.

I'm currently playing Braveland Pirates (and i've played the first one) and it's a step in the right direction, at the end of the battle i have to pay gold for the units that died in combat, i don't really need to check an inn (or something like that) for replenishment.
But i still want something that uses characters instead of troops, something like X-Com but in a medieval/fantasy setting and before you say it, not like Divinity OS, still have that one to play but i'm looking for something more "simple" with a grid system.

Any sugestions?
Something like Expeditions:Conquistador or Legends of Eisenwald, perhaps?

*edit* First one is, obviously, set during the Spanish conquest of Mexico. Second one, while a medieval setting, I should mention that I had an issue at the start of the last chapter where I couldn't complete the game. I was playing the archer character though. Apparently if you go with the knight/melee type, you won't have a problem. And I've still not determined if I ran into a bug or a poor design decision.

Something like Fire Emblem? Maybe Telepath Tactics?
Blackguards seems to fit the description pretty well.

Huge fan of both these games. Grab one or both and have a blast OP. On sale cheap now to boot.
Definitely Blackguards.
Also Fantasy Wars and Elven Legacy.
All Japanese RPG strategy games are like that, or at least those that I've played or heard about. Not so sure about the Western ones.

Final Fantasy Tactics series (FFT, FFTAdvance, FFTA2)
Tactics Ogre series
Fire Emblem as mentioned previously
Shining Force series
Disgaea series
Wild Arms
Pokemon Dungeon series
Rebelstar Tactical Command

And from Western games:

Card Hunter
Jagged Alliance 2
Paper Dungeon
Silent Storm
and all those tabletop like games I can't remember

But the best way to find them is to go through this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tactical_role-playing_game

If you find any interesting ones, please let me know (message or quote me)! :)

Freedom Force vs the Third Reich is a good game but it's got pause-based combat like the DnD games like Baldur's Gate.
Closest I can think of is Disciples 2, however that doesn't have a grid system for combat. Not that the combat is at all trivial. You often have to think very carefully who should attack whom in the turn based battles. Technically the other units in your party are troops, but they might as well be characters. You start with a few in the beginning of a mission, and you stick with them throughout, trying to level them as you progress.
FML, i've already had a huge post but i overwrite what i had copy before refreshing the page to see if there was a new post, let's start again...

Expeditions:Conquistador -> Not a fan of the setting or characters to be honest;

Legends of Eisenwald -> I was going to buy this one from the Indiestand (or whatever it is) when it was in promotion but this turned me off:

"A distinctive game world without common fantasy cliches"

and

"IMPORTANT NOTICE: Similar to games like Disciples 2 and HOMM, there may be points farther into the game where you lose it all, troops, gold, inventory. All those things you worked so hard for. This is part of the game, not a bug. And you wont know when.... Be warned."

Fire Emblem & Telepatic Tactics -> I already have FE Awakening to play but it's not what i'm looking for, i want the battlefield to be smaller and more simple like this -> tinyurl.com/htkozk3

Blackguards -> I forgot that i have that one to play but i remember that there was something about the combat being different than usual that made the game harder, is it easy to get into or do i have to watch videos explaining the gameplay mechanics?

Fantasy Wars and Elven Legacy -> Not what i'm looking for, it looks like a 4X time of game.

@Green_Hilltop -> Yeah, that's the general idea but i want to avoid troops, i rather have, dunno, 5 main characters that can level up and equip. I'm complicating things but my only way to explain it is playing HoMM or Kings Bounty but instead of having troops there's Mike the archer, Jon the healer, Susan the warrior, etc.

Kind of the usual turned based jrpg but instead of just choosing the attacks i also want to choose movement, what comes to mind is Front Mission 3.

Disciples 2 -> Yeah, as with the Legends of Eisenwald i want to maintain the units each level. :)
I actually remember playing the demo of it back then and enjoying it, might give it a try someday.

Before someone mentions it, i already have the Banner Saga on my wishlist, waiting for a promotion (ps4). :)

Thank you for your answers.
Maybe it's a silly question, but while you have mentioned playing the first Braveland and Braveland Pirate, have you played the second one, Braveland Wizard?

Yes, thing is that i've played the first and enjoyed it so yesterday while i was checking for deals on android games i saw that both of those were in discount (1€ each) so i decided to buy the most recent one. If it's more of the same with a diferent setting/story then i don't think it's worth it, one is enough.
Cheese n' Crackers in Pajama Sam.

That immediately made me think of Thea, though again, it doesn't satisfy all of your requirements. For one, there's no grid based combat whatsoever. Instead it uses a card battle system. Still, it's definitely worth checking out. Perhaps some gameplay videos on youtube. I quite enjoyed it with it's dark atmosphere that feels refreshingly new. However, when it comes to atmosphere in these TBS games, nothing beats Disciples 2 for me :)

Uhm, i'm watching a video and i don't get it, it looks like a 4X time of game (and one of these days i'm going to adventure in one of those), not what i'm looking for. I'm guessing it's because of the names that i said? That's because of my lack of imagination, not because i wanted something more realistic in that aspect. :p
Grotesque Tactics and its sequel seem to satisfy some of your conditions (turn-based strategy/rpg with distinctive party members and maybe small battlefields), but they do have a mixed reception.
