Seeing as it seems to be the day for asking about films, here is one from me.
Back in the 90's (so not recent) when channel 4 late night was around with things like vidz and first of the North Star, I I caught an oriental movie (or possibly series but all played at once). Don't remember much, think the protagonists dad was the mayor perhaps. They were attacked and protagonist joined a rebel group. All I can remember quite clearly is a guy jumping towards some enemy and pulling two bendy swords out which he was wearing as a belt. It was fairly long as well, an epic.
Been keeping an eye out for it for years, but only thing which came up was water margins, which is on my list of things to watch, so not sure if that is it.

Honestly, not enough info, I'm trying to find something but no luck. Do you have any other clues?
Sounds a little bit like American ninja but that was a western production
Do you remember if it was in English, dubbed, subtitled, etc?

Yep, I thought that maybe the case. Only saw it once back in the 90's, but remember spending at least a couple of hours watching it. Typical oriental epic along lines of flying daggers, but nothing other than the bendy belt swords has stuck in mind.
Oh well, I plan to watch water margins soon to eliminate that, will just have to watch every pre 1999 oriental film :o)

I'm vaguely familiar with The Water Margin from my university literature class, but I haven't watched any movies based on it. I recommend looking into All Men Are Brothers: Blood of the Leopard (1993) as a starting point:
