Hi,

I recently bought and installed a large number of gog games along with some mods added to them. I had also, ages gao, bought macrium reflect, software, which I had thought simply transferred all files from 1 PC to another, as long as the operating system was the same, so I was planning to upgrade my PC as soon as nvidia launched its new volta graphics card for home use and also get a new cpu, psu, case and motherboard. Now, the small print on the macrium software seems to suggest that I have to reinstall every single bloody pc game as well as adding nre mods. This sounds like a terrible waste of time. I did reaad about steam allowing a full 100% transfer of all installed steam games and related mods , to a new PC. Can Gog Galaxy do the same as well?

Galaxy can rescan for installed games, do t think it's that complex though. Really can't recommend copying over a load of installed software and mods. It may work, it may lead to all kinds of hard to debug issues. As a rule I only install software I actually use at the time, keeps a system nice and clean, minimises issues down the line. Installers also take up way less space, so once you get a lot of large games storage will really become an issue. Just some advice.
Do not know enough about Galaxy to say anything about it.

The way Windows works, moving installed programs to another hard disk is difficult :-( If you are very knowledgeable about the Windows registry you can copy the entries for the games and change those entries that need it. I suspect that for some games the hassle is not worth it but for some it might be. Long ago (W2000? XP?) I moved the system hard disk to a new system and managed to uninstall the drivers and install the new ones but it was never very stable.
Yes, Galaxy can do that. You don't need Galaxy at all to play any game (except of GWENT) but Galaxy is able to import games it will scan for on your HDD.

1) Click on the Galaxy logo and chose "Scan and import folders". Select the folder with your games in it to let Galaxy scan for it.
2) If point 1) dod not find all of your games, chose the game in your library then select "More" and "Manage Installation". Here you will find the second "Import" function.

This of course only makes it possible to play the regular games through Galaxy. If your mods or games should need some registry values these are not transfered automatically. Unfortunately some games do need those registry values (I just noticed yesterday that there's a regkey that tells "The Witcher" where it is installed - if ithis key is missing or wrong the game does not start at all). So to answer your question, use the above steps but if you want to be sure I would still recommend to reinstall those games. You might try something in between: just copy your games and import it and then try if there is any game that is not starting afterwards because of missing registry entrys. Then you simply reinstall those game in the same directorys to create those entrys.

I would not trust any "auto-tools" - for me it is always better to do fresh installation of games then look for savegames/mods folders on old PC and transfer them to the new one.
