sanscript: Just bought 5 copies of a game within 21 hours, one for me and leftovers to all the others. And no, I used Visa every time.

That also was the case when you and I hosted that giveaway around December, but I did try to buy 5 gift copies of a game about a year ago and that didn't go through.
Did you ask staff to maybe give you a higher buying limit? Iirc some have asked for such and been granted that request.

sanscript: I don't know. GOG might have one set of restriction, Visa/Mastercard might also have put up a "regional" restriction to stop spam buying or scams
That might also be possible(with buying in general I mean...not this latest issue).

trekstar4444: ah ok, so its based on number of times buying, not items. cool. thanks for clearing that up for me.

ok, so i got pay pal to work, and it went though (downloading xcom 2 bundle now). only reason i hadnt tried that before was that my mom is the only one in my family to use pay pal (she edits books, and every now and then someone will use paypal), and it had been so long there were problems with the account\pw\email for it (thankfully it was still linked to ebay so i was able to find a way to recover the info). but it looks like im up and running again, so hopefully what ever the problem is, it wont spread to paypal options lol.
thanks guys!
It's good to hear you are able to buy games as well. :)

(That said, I still hope GOG fixes the problem if they can, and as soon as possible)

ya, i just lost out on the intro sales tho. missed the witcher 3 goty for 15$.
o well, it looks like there are enough sales going on every week, ill stay busy a while (got 1 and 2 to play too lol)

Edit:
got a response back, and while i havnt tried my card normally yet, they did say they changed some settings manually for me, because thier fraud screening service was false flagging my card. which seems odd to me snice it went though the first time, but i guess it was because it was small charge then a bigger one, which might have looked like a test of the card.

Sorry if you don’t see a lot of “blue” on the forums lately. We are trying our best to change that and to do better in the future!

As for the payment issues, we’re currently working on improving the processing of card payments, which should in turn help in limiting similar situations to occur in the future. Payments not going through can be caused by different things, e.g. making many payment attempts in a very short period of time, wrong card credentials etc. , but to know for sure it’s necessary to reach out to our Support.

In your particular cases, I would strongly suggest using other payment methods, like PayPal – if that is a possibility for you.

It’s true that the wait period continues to be rather long, as our Support Team is still overwhelmed with the backlog :( Truly sorry about that, they’re trying their best to reply as fast as possible.

As for the sales that were going on during your payment issues, if you contacted us while the sale was still active there is still a possibility to take advantage of the discount.

I did, but at the time it said i'd need to possibly wait 2+ weeks, and I wanted to get some games in sales....but it's working now(atm), so hopefully it's fixed. :)

I used that(paypal) while the card wasn't working....it seems to have worked, and now card does as well.

It happens....i'm just glad it seems to be fixed for now.

(Gonna check email, maybe they fixed it and got back to me and I haven't read it yet)

That is good to hear.....I might take GOG up on that if it happens again for some reason(I love to buy and also gift games here, despite the issues i've had with the site).

Thanks again for replying, btw.....have a good one.

GameRager: Did you ask staff to maybe give you a higher buying limit? Iirc some have asked for such and been granted that request.
Nope, that limit seems to have been there always. However, I did contact GOG Support when the 5 limit kicked in (or so), and asked about the possibility to order a set/group of gift code of 3 or 5 at a time or something. Going thru the whole process every single time is kinda annoying. A one 3-group per week or even month limit should be ample enough, and it could easily be something that is on a trial basis based on how long you've been a member, no bs history with payment or scamming, you need to have bought a least one game before (that should also be a requirement to use the forum as it's a service and to limit spam), etc...

This might also make people buy more since it's less of a hasselhoff, be it to friends (to play together) or for giveaways. Just add the product to the cart, press the plus sign a couple of times, and bam; 3 codes delivered. Just like buying a pair of underpants or packs of wood-screws.

The only answer I got from GOG Support that time was (now, imagine a pretty dry and expressionless accountant answering); "We'll think about it. Next!" :P

Sounds like a good idea, and i'm shocked they essentially waved it off or binned that idea....it would have made them some more money.

You're fairly new here, so allow me to say that terrible lack of communication and blue-text presence on the forum have been a long standing problem on GOG. Once or twice a year, someone will pop-in on some occasion and make a similar statement to yours, then time goes by and nothing changes.
So in spite your good intentions, and the reception of your comment, I'm not going to hold my breath that this time things will change. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised, but experience attests to the contrary.
HAHA! got one purchase in and its borken again lol. pay pal still works tho at least, so i guess ill just give up on my card and stick with that.

Thank you for confirming something that recently happened to me. It seems a GOG support team member fixed my issue for purchases due to their fraud prevention system by resetting it for my account. But it only fixed it for the "next" transaction according to the rep, meaning the the fix is good for "one" transaction only.

Unfortunately I used a card that automatically gets locked for any foreign transactions over $100 (I tried to add $200) to the GOG wallet. GOG being in Poland and me in the US. So apparently my one attempt to purchase wallet funds and subsequent bank error counted as my "next" transaction.

So I'm locked out again with the "cannot verify" error lol.

Edit:
So just to be clear, when GOG support team fixes the issue, make sure you make that first attempt to purchase count or you may have to submit a new ticket and wait several more days for the reply. Next time I'll stick to the $100 bank limit to give myself a little breathing space between GOG fixes lol.

Edit 2 (5/19/2020):
I was finally able to add wallet funds after a reset by a GOG Support Team member this morning. I would advise checking with your bank to make sure what the limits are for overseas transactions so they don't block the transaction. For my bank it was any funds over $100 for overseas transactions. I will wait until next month to add a bit more to wallet funds just to play it safe and not get flagged again by GOG's fraud prevention system. Also you may want to ask GOG in any support emails to loosen the restrictions a bit more on the fraud prevention system. That's what they did for me instead of just reseting it. Hope this helps anyone else having these issues.

P.S. Do not open new support tickets if you have one open already. Keep replying back and forth with the first email response from GOG, it's much faster when you already got their attention.
