Was going through the list, meaning probably for the 3rd or 4th time to write which ones I played at least, and just noticed that you wrote Deux Ex.
And that said, let's see:
• Deus Ex: Played and finished. And really liked it even though everything would have pointed towards a strong dislike, since I normally can't stand shooters or modern/near future/dystopian/cyberpunk settings, so whatever you want to call it, it shouldn't have worked. But it did, largely because I played it as an RPG, not a shooter, hardly ever got in a firefight, with a sniper/hacker who snuck around a lot and meleed enemies from behind, even sniping being rare. And the story pulled me in.
• The Devil Inside: Can't count it, but I started it, then said nah. Not entirely sure it wasn't just a demo really.
• Diablo II: Will count properly next year, since I played with LoD installed. And finished it, but hated just about every moment. With LoD I'd consider it one of the worst games I ever played, at least considering the aims and production values. Without the expansion's additions, I'd consider it utterly unplayable.
• Escape from Monkey Island: Played and finished. The new fighting system was much worse than the insult-based one, the switch to 3D didn't so it much service either, and overall worse gameplay than CoMI. But did have its good parts too. Not entirely sure, but might have been the last adventure game I played for several years, maybe more like a decade.
• Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed: Played and finished. And really liked it, making it another odd one out, since I think I just played three other driving games, and those were much older and I was a kid. But advancing through the ages and upgrading your cars and caring for them, damage being expensive and all, brought layers that hooked me.
• Nox: Played and almost finished. Either something I couldn't figure out or a problem with the, er, high seas edition I had made me unable to get past something close to the end, but did enjoy it up to that point. So another odd one out, being an ARPG. Not touching Divine Divinity, which is "the" ARPG of that style for me, but I think the only other one I enjoyed.
• Sacrifice: Can't count it, just started and said nah. Just the... feel of it rubbed me the wrong way.
• SimCity 3000: Unlimited: Not sure about this one. I probably played SimCity 3000, but whether Unlimited or vanilla, can't say, and there's also a chance it was actually SimCity 4. Should be easy enough to determine between 3 and 4 by watching a playthrough for a while but for some reason never did in all the years since I've been wondering. Between vanilla and Unlimited 3000 though, doubt I remember enough to be able to tell. Either way, was all right, but still preferred 2000.
• The Sims: Played it thoroughly. Not sure you can call it finished, but as far as it went, for the vanilla game, I got there, multiple times... While at the same time rather just going through the motions, and in part also because my gf (then...) played it a lot too and we compared things and talked about it.
• Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption: Played and finished. And also enjoyed. Nice mix of ancient and modern, but of course I much preferred the old part, rather pushing through once it got to modern times, but still enjoyable, and a good implementation of WoD.
