I've reached the point where it's time for me to buy a motherboard.

Current specs:
CPU: AMD 5600G
Storage: 1TB WD Black NVMe SSD

What I've decided:
* I'm going with micro-ATX. It's cheaper, it can fit in smaller cases than full ATX, and I don't need *that* many ports. Plus, it could work in a smaller case than full ATX.
* I'm going with a B550 (B550m?), as that seems like a good choice at the moment.
* Linux support is *mandatory*. If Linux won't run acceptably on it, then it's not an option.
* I would prefer to avoid hardware requiring binary blobs (unless there's an open source one). In particular, the wifi is the component I'm most concerned about (since it's a component where avoiding a blob is feasible). I'd rather have a motherboard without wifi (and just use a USB adapter) instead of using one whose wifi requires a binary blob.
* I would prefer not to buy from amazon or newegg, and there's no microcenter near me.

So, what should I buy today?

Edit: Why the low rating?

Why do you need wifi on your desktop? Is your router in another room?*

*I've had that in my previous apartment - the internet connection was in the kitchen closet. I used a powerline adapter.

The router is in another room, and is, in fact, on another floor.

I do, however, have a USB adapter that I'm using for my older desktop that I could just move over.
Why are you asking people here? Nobody here has had experience with a bunch of motherboards with your requested specifications.

Just search online for motherboard 'roundup' review articles. Or make a list of all applicable models and look up reviews for each of them.

Me, I've had only positive experiences with Asus motherboards - but I don't consider that fact itself to be very meaningful, not in general, not for someone else, not even for myself.
I too decided it's time to buy a motherboard. It was when I figured out I won't be able to run my computer without one.

Probably the 10th post made about buying/building a computer here from the same person.
Maybe if you had asked for speaker recommendations for your PC you may have got a better response...

I'm actually happy with this speaker, which I'm using for my desktop:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/3369

It's not a home theater-type speaker, but it works nicely for my purposes, and sounds noticeably better than HDMI audio.

(Also, no subwoofer, so it likely won't irritate your housemates or neighbors as much.)

(Also, I haven't actually checked the speaker recommendation topic, so I don't know if this would fit that topic poster's needs.)

You may have to be cautious about using those at high volume, they looks quite substantial speakers...

With the set-up you have, I very much doubt you'll be needing a sub-woofer...

Well, it might be worth a look...
MicroATX B550 with WiFi:

Check the WiFi support here:
https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/drivers

Check list:
What cable would you prefer to use to connect to your monitor. Check whether the motherboard has that or some other you can use since you are going to use the integrated graphics.

Enough ports and the kinds you need.

Is the sound satisfactory.

They / xir / other didn't specify their / xire pronouns, so I'll assume not.

If you're talking about me, I actually have my pronouns in my forum title.
