CDP Investment and Optimus have concluded an agreement in accordance with a letter of intent the companies had signed earlier and Metropolis Software has reportedly been shut down so their FPS game They cancelled? Is it really true? Game was looking great, I hope that is just a rumor...

Is this real?! The game looked nice, although focused way too much on the weapons customization, well, but borderlands kinda did the same. :/
sounds like CDProjeckt is not doing so well, but GOG appears to be doing fine.
well gog makes a bit of actual money i can only hazard a guess at how much it is so gog will be unaffected
I just hope this doesn't affect GOG and Witcher 2 in future. Things are starting to stabilise now and with CD Projekt on the stock market it might not be long before things pick up.
It's also worth noting that the team behind They didn't have much success with similar titles in the past. To say the least. So it may be for the best that it's put on ice, then when things pick up it has a new team assigned to it. I was looking forward to it, but I had my doubts all the same.
Necromancy!--because I'd been wondering what happened to this, with TW2 long available and TW3 coming soon. Reportedly They had only been put on ice, but that was over four years ago.

I suppose it's at least conceivable that when the Witcher team have finished their current project, They will finally be resurrected in some form...

If anything comes of They, it will be after Cyberpunk 2077, I think (unless they work on it simultaneously with CP2077 after TW3).

But it seems like a cool game, and I'd love to see what CDP does with a FPS.

I had to read this thread about 3 times, wondering who the heck "they" were and what "they" cancelled... before I realized They WAS the game cancelled and I had just never heard of it before.

*also Vanished that's some pretty impressive work with the dark arts right there! ;) Also funny to see the posts about CDPR, hoping Witcher 2 is still moving along. Here we are 5 years later and W3 is probably going to be huge and GoG is plugging along wonderfully!

Ixamyakxim: and I had just never heard of it before.
That's because they didn't want you to know.

Also, holy necro.

And now TW3 is almost upon us. But will They ever return...? (And will I ever let this thread die?)

Actually, unless CDPR is going to put all its major resources into 2077, this might not be a bad time to try to guess what the next big project will be. We've now seen a board game and a MOBA, but no FPS so far...

But I think the thread archiving will stop this dark art also.
Well being a necromancer and all, I will jump in as well. I remember back in the day , They had a pretty big following, and They were starting to get hyped, and then They went silent.
But not without expressing a desire to come back ( via [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/They_%28video_game%29]Wikipedia). That was five years ago, though, so if the project ever does get resurrected, I expect it'll resemble what was shown about as much as the final release of Prey or Duke Nukem Forever.

What I do still think plausible is that CDPR might try to expand into the FPS market someday.
I hope game will be resurrected unexpectedly like this thread. I'll keep waiting for this to happen anyway. They Live!
Apparently someone asked CDP about this: https://twitter.com/CDProjektRED_IR/status/612581363838025728
The project was cancelled many years ago.
we have no such plans [to resurrect it] as for today.
Wikipedia then purged its article (evidently coverage of cancelled projects is considered unimportant); Archive.org's last capture is https://web.archive.org/web/20151106150954/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/They_%28video_game%29
