I just noticed that The Witcher 3 pre-order pricing on GOG.com right now is listed as $46.99 crossed out and discounted to $37.59 "you save $9.40 (20%). This caught my eye and made me do a double-take because my memory recalls the game being listed previously as $59.99, with a pre-order discount of like 10%, and then an additional 5% off for each Witcher game you already own on GOG.com. If I recall correctly it gave me 20% off for owning both games and the offered price ended up being $47.99. I just had a look around and for whatever reason can not find any reference to that now.

Anyhow, the price showing on http://www.gog.com/thewitcher3 for me now is $46.99 regular price instead of the previous $59.99, and the 20% discount now brings the game down to $37.59 as mentioned above, which is a full $10.40 cheaper than what it was originally offered for. I'm in Canada and as far as I'm aware this is all in US dollars (always was, and it shows USD at the bottom of the page as well with no other currency to choose from).

So my questions are simply:

* Did CDPR lower the non-discount regular price of the game officially and I missed an announcement about that?

* Will people who bought the game previously have the price adjusted for supporting CDPR early or is it just pricing lottery like everything is in life?

I have not yet ordered the game, however it is cool of course to see the price drop on a game, especially one you are interested in and which is highly anticipated in general, but it's also unusual to see the price of an upcoming game advertised and then reduced at a later date before the game even comes out so I am just curious if there was any announcement or information about this and some quick searching didn't yield anything useful. While it's cool to see a price drop, it also makes me both glad I did not already pre-order the game and more likely than ever to never pre-order any game - because even good things can happen before a game is officially released that one might become disappointed over if they ended up paying more to be the first on the block to look at the new wallpaper or avatar icons or whatever. :)

Normally for a $60 game, you don't see a price drop like this until 6 months *after* it is released, and often then only if the game didn't end up selling as good as the publisher anticipated.

I hope CDPR isn't having financial difficulty and needing to stimulate cashflow via a price drop due to the game being delayed.

Discuss.

Apparently, it's the first regionally-priced game for Canadian GOGers.

It's a pre-order. If the price has dropped people can cancel the order and reorder it at the new price. So it's not like people who have already ordered are screwed.
Yeah, I noticed this as well, and since I bought two copies of the game at the old price, I'm hoping GOG will compensate for the difference. Normally I wouldn't care, but it being a pre-order, I feel there should be some price protection on this.
Showing $71.99 for me...

You can refund your pre-orders and reorder it... If you didn't use your NWN at least. I'm sure GOG will compensate you if you ask in any case.

Ok, so this is a price adjustment so that Canadian currency converted to USD balances out so that as our dollar plummets against the USD, the price of games here will adapt to eat the cost?

Our dollar used to be on par with USD for many years give or take a few points, but in the last year or so we've nosedived down a good 20% and it's been noticeable on some things although I didn't pay much attention to it with games. But if the prices adapt to that in our favour well... FUCKING SWEET!

Now if they'd just add an option that lets us pay for games with poutine, back bacon, and maple syrup we'd be all set.

Move to Canada! I'll let you crash on my couch for a few weeks while you find an apartment or whatever. :)

From what I gather, GOG is adopting about the same price that Witcher 3 has on the Canadian Steam; 60 CAD, which translates to roughly 47.5 USD.

Yeah, it just seems a pain in the ass. I'll e-mail support closer to the release date. If the price is still low by then, at that time I'll decide what to do about it. No use doing it now, since the price could fluctuate again. Besides, the second copy was a gift code which I've given away already. Probably don't want to nuke the giftee's code...

Yeah, my Steam shows regular price CDN$ 59.99 discount 10% off - CDN$ 53.99 right now which is what it was on GOG before as well, not counting my uber-gog discount for owning the 2 previous games. Count me in favour of regional pricing in Canada! :) Not so much in favour of it where people are aversely affected mind you, that sucks. My couch is available for defectors though. :)

Thanks for the offer, but I'm not worried just showing the different prices....:-)
Well, I just noticed it... Today. In fact I was suprised as I remembered (and I was right) pre-ordering the game for 60$, the day the pre-order came out (minus the 20% pre-order discount, 10 of these 20% being offered for being a loyal fan owning both preview episodes).

I didn't know it was because of the newly regional pricing scheme, which is great, but I would have liked to be more informed. That's a 10$ difference in fact, which account for half of the season pass for example.

I don't really mind, since I think the game's worth it anyway (and recent reviews tend to acknowledge that) but still it would have been great that GOG informed people who pre-ordered before the price change.
