Hi, I noticed that The Witcher 3 cannot be started without the Galaxy client. The client is overall a good idea and I quite like it as an installation and patching platform, but I do not want to run my games through it. This is kind of annoying me to be honest. If I would want to use a client to run my games, I'd use Steam. I am a gog customer because I can - or rather could it seems - play my games without a proprietary third software. By now I downloaded and installed about two dozen games through your Galaxy client and none of these games requires it to start. That The Witcher 3 does however leaves me very disappointed and with a very bad aftertaste. I thought your Galaxy client would be optional? This is not what I had in mind when you said that.

Sincerely

As a matter of fact, it CAN start without galaxy, its just that they have made the default shortcut do galaxy launch. Go to you witcher install folder and run the witcher shortcut there, or The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64\witcher3.exe directly, and it will run standalone.

Thank you very much! I had not found the .exe before and therefore assumed it was embedded with Galaxy. I'm much happier now. Thank you! :)

Hi there!
So, I have a problem with my GOG launcher. it won't open. Every time I click on "play" the Launcher stops responding,
I can't seem to run it on standalone either because I click the witcher3.exe file and nothing happens

please help :/

Try starting it from the Start menu instead. If that doesn't work, have you ever successfully started the game on the same computer you are using? Does the system meet the minimum system requirements listed on the game's store page?

Be sure also to check the Witcher forums both here on GOG and on the CDPR website. If you can't get it to work, contact GOG support at the link at the bottom of the page.

Can you post the shortcut's info here? Like what it targets and what does it start in?

My current link shows

"C:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient\GalaxyClient.exe" /gameId=1207664643 /command=launch /path="C:\games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt"
starts in
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient"

But please note that my message/this thread is from 2015, I do not know if offline installers still make the same links as they used to a year ago and I'm not eager to redownload/reinstall to find out.

EDIT: Also, GOTY is reported to have different installer

Think PookaMustard was asking stheman. But I'm not sure about their ability to troubleshoot since he/she didn't post any system info and asked a tangentially related question in a thread that was over a year old.
