MysterD: I don't know if there's other stuff w/ Wolf 2009's rights involved. Who knows. Or if say Bethesda and/or Activision really don't care about this game; or just can't make some kind of deal happen. [shrug]
I remember the game having a mixed reception, so maybe that's one of the reasons they don't bother with it.
A shame really, because although it had problems, it was a nice and solid shooter.

MysterD: About Human Head - yeah, they're now Roundhouse; I knew that. I'd still love to see Prey 2 finished-up, since it was supposedly in Alpha and had its content-run done or very close to done. I do wonder if that's now possible, with HH becoming Roundhouse, more or less.
I don't know, because what would be the identity of the Prey franchise. You have the original one that no one seems to bother making it available again (they could remove the songs or try to renew their license). You have the new one that is a completely different game and then if they'd revive the Prey 2 concept, it would be a sequel to a game that is no more, but at the same time another completely different experience from the previous two. It's complicated.

If they did ever re-release HH's Prey 2, maybe that HH series of Prey games gets renamed to something else?

That's the thing, though - most people that know Prey these days, probably know only Prey 2017. We're at the point where...Arkane's game & future Arkane-made Prey titles probably would keep the brand-name Prey.

bluethief: - Second Sight
Not sure if you know, but Second Sight was actually on GOG but got removed at some point, so probably legal issues, too.

EDIT: Found the corresponding thread.

Interesting that they even thought there was a possibility that they would have to remove it from the library of users who bought it... Does anyone here own it and still has access to the download?

Yeah I know, but now THQ Nordic has the rights to it, so I don't know why they don't put it here again. Maybe they want to do a remake/remaster like they're doing with Kingdoms of Amalur.

Yeah, I think that would be the better approach.

Okay, what's the story w/ Black & White titles?

So, who holds the IP? And who holds distribution rights?
Does EA own the IP?
What about Lionhead and Microsoft. I think maybe Microsoft bought out Lionhead?

Also, IIRC - Black & White was one of those titles that might need to be fixed-up.
Can B&W1 and B&W2 even run on W10?

Also, while we're at it - who holds right to Lionhead's game The Movies and its expansion?

MysterD: Also, doesn't Frogwares hold most of the rights or license right now for Sherlock Holmes games? Is it jus tfor their games and making new games? Or...is there more to it?

Does anyone know details on Sherlock IP with owners and license-holders here?
Sherlock Holmes is in the public domain, isn't it? The IP and most of the original works, I mean, so anyone should be free to make a new game or anything related with the character.

Actually, yeah, you're right.

In 2014, Sherlock's basically in the public domain - https://www.latimes.com/books/jacketcopy/la-et-jc-sherlock-holmes-public-domain-20140805-story.html

Don't know about 2, but 1 couldn't run properly on Windows 7. It would need fix-ups; possibly a remastered edition.

Until we get a Remaster for B&W1, looks like we can look here to try to get things going w/ Mods, Fan Patches, etc:
B&W1 PC Gaming Wiki - https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Black_%26_White
NFS Underground 2. It never got a digital release and now the prices for physical copies are around £20-25.

As much as I'd love old racing games to come back, these ones w/ tons of car and music licenses like say NFS UG 1+2 probably never will.

Chasing down all of those licenses would be a legal nightmare.

Yeah, it will never get an official digital release. It's a shame as most physical copies have SafeDisc DRM, which makes it nearly unplayable on modern systems without finding a crack.

I own it, and yes - I have full access to the game and all its extras.
