Maighstir: The "sell DRM-free anime" was the part that had me interested enough to try figuring out if they supported more languages to begin with. How does it handle dubs and subs? Does it offer original spoken language and English subs, or is everything dubbed/subbed in the "local" language (Italian, for you)?

I mean, French (and even Italian) is a small enough problem for me to just get around the store in search for DRM-free series, but having either language as dubs or subs is a lost cause.
I know, I got my eye on them for that reason ...
I just wanted to clarify that I have not tried their more interesting service, because of the series they offer.

for what I know they only offer anime with original language (jap) and local sub (italian for me), you cannot choose other language (I cannot change sub to fr for example) because the sub are not softsub.

I understand you anyway ... but in Italy the real problem is that we still don't have many important simulcast series (like One Piece to make an example). Only in recent years (like 2 years ago) have come some good official site. Before that we could only wait for the fansub... or, in very rare cases, the official release dubbed, many years later (at worst it comes the series censored by the Americans ... as Yu-Gi-Oh ... 4kids version).
Digital manga here do not yet exist.
It's also not a problem to understand English (maybe I do not speak it very well, but I understand it perfectly), the problem is that US site not officially sell in Italy or they sell different product (you have to use proxy). So it is not reliable.

In the end it comes down to: before thinking about being able to purchase DRM-free, you have to have something to buy.
I do not know what the situation in Sweden but I believe that few countries are well placed in the field digital goods ... with the exception of the video games department.
And I think that all things considered Italy is not in a bad situation (for anime, music and videogames... for manga, ebooks and movies the situation is not really good).

In any case the non-popularity of digital goods in Italy is also due to the connection. The average for us is 7 mega ADSL (600 kb / s down, 40 kb / s up). Maybe in a few years, with the optical fiber, the situation will change ... The optical fiber for now exists only in the center of big cities. The cities of the province are not covered... and the limited of 10 GB for mobile internet is not helpfull.

joelandsonja: As far as I can see, both of these websites require third party software applications to view the content.
Look again; they offer DRM-free downloads. Any MP4-capable media player will do.
