darthspudius: If the company could see the hateful comments on this forum, I wouldn't blame them for not putting the games here. I wouldn't seeing some of the shit people keep blabbering on about.
You are mixing up cause and effect!

Although, if we believe resident bethfangirl Siannah then zeni is only trying to start their own DRM-free platform and wants to release the games there hahaha

Well, I'll add a little more... :)

FUCK BETHESDA. And FUCK STEAM.

It feels so good to say that..... (FULL DISCLOSURE: Yes, Fallout 3/NV is my favorite game of all time, yes I purchased them on Steam... well Fallout NV on Steam... but I held off for years on doing it hoping it would send a message but no.... so FUCK BETHESDA and their decision to make these games Steam only... or Steam only and their new client only.... and FUCK STEAM.... just because...)

Well technically they're not Steam only. The disc of Fallout 3 only required GFWL to play but that can be patched out before you even launch the game.

astropup: Well... Where there's smoke there's fire. :)

There's a bunch of reasons to be upset. For example:
1) Their parent company Zenimax avoids GOG
2) Zenimax also doesn't offer DRM-free option anywhere
3) Some people don't like Elder Scrolls series went MMORPG
4) Some people consider Bethesda releases buggy
5) Some people are upset at Bethesda for not-providing security fixes so they have to use community patches
6) A lot of people is upset at Bethesda for trying to cash in on community patches, fixes and content during recent paid mod Steam fiasco
7) Some people think there are already too many propriatry DRM platforms so a news of another one (or something similar to that) is pretty upsetting for them
8) Add your own...

Oh come on, this is nothing compared to what a lot of other companies get (especially considering we're still very much in the wake of the paid mods freakout) on a much regular basis.

The real question is... why is it you only care when it's poor little Bethesda being questioned or flamed? Lately you seem ready and willing to march to the defense of Bethesda regardless of what the actual criticism of them is...

But hey, what do I know? I'm just a nostalgic fanboy...despite only having a few hours in the first Fallout! Ha...

uh, I think that is a coincidence. I love Fallout which tends to attract me attention. But I'm not really defending Bethesda as much as I just can't help but find the hatred abit pathetic.

Yeah, I know Fallout 3 wasn't, but IIRC every Bethesda release since is/will be Steam only and/or I suppose their own client once they finish that.

I don't know maybe it is, bleh.

I do hope you realize that all this "hatred" has only really cropped up since the paid mods and now the release of what may be their own version of Steam, and the "hatred" is already dying back down to previous levels. Bethesda traditionally is one of the companies that you're not allowed to question or dislike in any form, which does make any spike in criticism seem like hatred, I'll give you that much.

Well it still means that not all of them are Steam only. Saying that as unwanted as it was, GFWL never really faulted in my use anyway so I never had much of a problem with it.

Though I'm a gamer who just plays games, platforms of release are not really my concern.

I don't think my comment was hateful. :) I just summarized the criticism I saw on GOG and elsewhere.

A life? Is that a new game? Is it on sale? :P

I wish I knew, I could do with one myself. :D

Why not??? I'll criticize them all day long for their decision to make their games Steam only releases. And when they finish their client and that's the only way to purchase them, I'll criticize them for that too. In fact, if Fallout 4 requires their client/log-in or whatever (like say UPlay) then I will not purchase it despite Fallout being my favorite franchise of all time. I'll vote with my wallet.... for all the good it will do....
Anyway, I'm sure there is always some little chance of Bethesda's games coming here but I wouldn't count on it, especially since they're working on their own platform. Shame too, I imagine Fallout 3 and New Vegas would rank among the all time sellers here very quickly, I mean just remember how the Fallout 1/2/Tactics giveaway melted GOG's servers!

Oh I'm not saying that you can't criticize them, I mean in most corners of the web questioning Bethesda or disliking one of their games usually gets you hammered into oblivion (excuse the pun) regardless of the hows or whys. Imagine insulting Deus Ex or Baldur's Gate or The Witcher here and you've got the idea haha.

Oh, yeah, I see what you're saying. I do admit that their games are usually very good, but for me the bottom line will always be BUYING a game means it's MINE. I should be able to play it on any machine, at any time, in any fashion I choose, with or without an internet connection once or all the time (except of course for the once you need to DL it if one purchases a digital version). That should be the bottom line of all consumers, but it seems most are ok with always being fucked by all the different DRM's while pirates keep doing what pirates do... so the only people that DRM inconveniences in any, way, shape or form are those that paid for the game. That is so stupid and so wrong on so many levels it's hard to wrap your head around, yet consumers just keep on supporting it....

A bag of dicks you say? Sucking is more efficient.
