It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Fonzer: It's megabytes per second i only get 4 most of the time but the beginning i see it's at 12 which quickly goes down to 4 and stays there. I miss my old 20 megabytes connection per second which was before the summer cdn issues. And i got a 5tb external hdd but didn't expect it would stay slower for a year.

timppu: Well yeah that sucks of course, but at least you are getting something... I do normally get better download speeds, at least when downloading in several threads (several files at the same time). I have a 600 Mbit/s optical cable modem, and I'd say I reach to around 200 Mbit/s downloads on GOG normally, with browser downloads. Luckily I seem to connect to a GOG Fastly CDN server which is in the same country, quite close to me.

Have you tried if there is any difference whether using Galaxy or a browser, and have you checked to which CDN you are connecting to, ie. is it in another continent or something? Maybe we have discussed these already in some earlier discussions about the subject, I don't remember...
Didn't use galaxy yet maybe i will try it one day to see how it works. The microsoft edge browser was the only one i used. After the cdn problem that was fixed and they changed to fastly it got slower. Gonna have to check to which cdn i connect
Checked the method you posted and the location seems to go to:
Continent North America
Country United States (US)
State California (CA)
City San Jose

Why so far isn't there anything closer or is something not shown correctly.

RaynStargaze: Title.
Well then... Goodbye! :P

RaynStargaze: They used to randomly throttle to 0mb/s every 10 seconds for no reason before ramping up again.

Now the platform randomly loses connection entirely.

I liked your platform but it literally doesnt work for the one thing its supposed to do
As others have stated, the issue might not be GOG or not entirely.

It is very certain though, that since the CDN issue in 2023, many of us have been impacted by much slower downloads, so there is a GOG server issue at play for sure, for us.

Prior to that I could download, as I still do with other sites, at my top speed of around 5 megabytes a second. Now I never get over 1.3 megabytes a second for a single stream with GOG.

Supposedly GOG throttle single streams now, so you need to download with a program that supports multiple streams.

I use Free Download Manager 5 for instance, and that gives me download speeds that I should be getting.

If my ISP or some other site between me and GOG was throttling, I would not be able to overcome the issue like I have.

Others report that using a VPN also solves their slow download speed issues with GOG.

TIP
In some cases, your ISP is to blame or the PC you are connected to as their server. Over time, depending on how many users etc are connected, they can slow down badly. That can usually be solved, as it was for me tonight, by turning my modem/router off for ten minutes, then back on again. I had a scenario, where even with a large number of streams with FDM5, I could not get over 1 Megabyte a second. Doing as I said, solved it for me and i was back to around 5 megabytes a second. Presumably I was connected to a different server PC at my ISP.

I was trying to download many 4 GB files in that painfully slow scenario.

A couple of years ago I backed up my entire GOG library and I didn't have any problems at all with disconnections or slow download speeds or anything like that.
There's 2 GoG games made available on Prime this week, downloaded the offline installer
yesterday at 90-100 MB/s...was way fast...although 30-40 MB is more common, still plenty.

Yeah that is odd, considering there are several servers in Europe too.

Whenever I check which server I get, I luckily get every time the one which happens to be in my country, something like 12 km away from me. The download speeds are ok.

Dude, if you reside in Slovenia, but your "closest" server is shown sitting in San Jose/California, something is definitely not right.
Are you per chance using a VPN?

No vpn as i don't need them most of the time. Also didn't set one up on this pc.
It's the ip i got from the method that was posted before and it says it's there the fastly server. I don't know how to check if i really do connect to there or anywhere else.
Maybe it isn't right or i don't know how to get the closest ip.
At least on steam i get 22megabytes per second but yeah haven't tried galaxy yet as for some reason it force drops to 4megabytes per second from gog offline installers on the microsoft edge browser..

Fonzer: I mean i have mostly 4mb per second instead of 20mb per second for some reason since the cdn issues were fixed in summer 2023 and they changed to fastly.

eric5h5: In my case I usually get 5Mb/s or so using a web browser, but 30+Mb/s downloading offline installers using Galaxy. I never get any disconnections. I rarely get throttling but it's nothing to do with GOG, it's my ISP being annoying since everything is affected.
Just tried gog galaxy for offline installer for teh first time and it works better i got 25 to 27 megabytes per second.
Guess edge browser and fastly together are just slower.
Gonna use galaxy for offline installers now.
Also gonna try downloading all games that are left before 2025 october since galaxy maybe won't support win 10 then anymore

Last I checked, it was the same for me in Australia ... the server being in North America (varying the location there).

And no I am not using a VPN and never have with GOG, and aside from the Opera browser thing, which I have used on occasion, though never for downloading and never to login, and only in Private mode, I haven't had a VPN for years (before my GOG account existed).
