I play a good number of games, though mainly older ones(replaying) or short new ones....though I ALSO play some longer new ones on occasion as well. :)

Well, rather than try to deny the compulsion, it has been quite a successful technique to sublimate the obsessive need to add tweak into a creative outlet. What I mean is, rather than ignore the urge (to add to the information) instead channel it into creating different ways of sorting the information, via themes (or schemata) represented in the view provided by a particular index. An index of games ranked by their appeal is different to one that ranks them according to length or style (RPG, action, adventure, action-adventure, action-RPG, etcetera).

By denying the impulse you give it strength (in Neurolinguistic Programming —— NLP —— very clearly authorities establish that negative reinforcement doesn't work; say "I will not smoke" doesn't appear to work since it brings the habit (of smoking, in this instance) into focus and is a bit like saying "Don't think of elephants" to someone) and so it is better to acknowledge the urge and use the energy derived from it to create something useful. (You can never have too many indices. :)

I do that in a way...I channel the time spent on such things into finishing my backlog bit by bit....and then writing a bit about each completion for the completed games thread. :)
