Given how often people are asking about Brazilian teams and local football in other discussions, I decided it was a good idea to have a thread just for this.

Mods, please feel free to sticky this one, ok?

Cambrey: 7-1.

Try harder, we actually don't care about the national team.
Now, if you find someone who cheers for Cruzeiro or Grêmio...

Just wait until you have another good national team. Then you'll care.

Maybe. I can't say for everybody, of course, but I care a lot more when my local team wins/loses.
That fatidic day of 7-1 I wasn't even watching the match. I don't think it's a problem with the quality of the team, there are other variables that make it unattractive to many people here.
How about that Palmeiras, eh?

Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
What was Gaucho thinking sending Pereira on that early?

There was nothing they could have done. Deyverson is a force of nature

The thing about Flamengo is, they always try and walk it in.

That's true. So few shots from the distance considering everybody knows Palmeiras defends with a low block.
In theory Palmeiras wasn't even supposed to reach the finals, as Atletico-MG was clearly superior on the field during the semifinals. Still, playing better doesn't help if you don't score more goals. I blame their defeat on Hulk's lost penalty in the first game, and Nathan Silva mess up in the second game. They still could have won at penalties but the match was much more even by then because both teams have great keepers.

I don't exactly like Abel Ferreira's work (especially when it comes to Palmeiras's tactical performance), but for the final match I gotta admit he got one thing right that Gaucho did not and it changed everything. For weeks and months Abel worked with the players psychology to make them enter the field ready to play the match of their lives. Meanwhile Flamengo spent that time already celebrating their coming title, considering themselves unbeatable, and entered the field "wearing high heels". It's no wonder they lost.
