I updated from 18.1 to 18.2 Sonya and loving it. Not only it works smoother but the annoying desktop icon order is finally fixed. All my applications are still working.

I also discovered chromium, basically same is chrome on windows. So far it is much faster than firefox on almost all web pages. Surprisingly, when I entered my gmail account, it installed everything I had on my windows chrome here. :))

Just wanted to share this happy moment with fellow linux community.

P.S. Can anyone tell what video driver i should use in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS for ATI Radeon HD7700? Driver which came with the OS working very, VERY slow now. :(

The open driver is the only option for that GPU, but the version of Mesa provided by Ubuntu is very outdated. Add this PPA: [url=https://launchpad.net/~paulo-miguel-dias/+archive/ubuntu/pkppa]https://launchpad.net/~paulo-miguel-dias/+archive/ubuntu/pkppa[/url] and then install the updates to Mesa etc. provided by it.

If anyone found the lack of stars while typing admin password on terminal annoying, here is a quick way of doing it.

It was not annoying me but I did it anyway. Basically all you need to do is...

* Open terminal CTRL+ALT+T
* sudo visudo
* type your admin password
* add ",pwfeedback" after "Defaults env_reset"
* CTRL+X
* Y (to accept the changes)
* press enter

close that terminal and open a new one. Try the same "sudo visudo" command again. You should now have stars.
