New GOG member here. I hadn't heard of GOG until i learned they released a DRM free and more stable version of Saints Row 2. After becoming a member I've realized how awesome GOG is and how important it is to gaming.

I've always been a physical over digital consumer. Apart from the obvious tangible aspects, the fact that with physical games you actually own them versus paying for the rights aspect of digital versions. Services like Steam are essentially selling rights to play to a game they offer. You have no ownership of the game, IMO you are getting screwed. Steam uses convenience and sales as a selling point and Steam users are eating it up; completely blind to the fact that they are throwing their money away. Just like with PSN and XboxLive, servers go down and games get taken off the networks. With digital, nothing you buy digital is safe and future proof. Now with the Windows 10 securerom/safedisk issue (which i find disturbing many PC gamers are unaware of this) disabling use of physical disc games, gamers are left with few options to play their favorite games.

GOG is the perfect middle ground between obsolete physical copies and DRM (yes i said DRM) companies like Steam. When i buy a game at GOG, its mine. And I can use my physical box copy, that Microsoft deems unusable, to display on my shelf.

So thank you GOG, I will happily support this model of PC gaming.!

Welcome to the cause. :) I came to the same conclusion roughly in late 2012 when I started using GOG. I had signed up in 2009 for a free game promotion but got in, got the game and got out without really paying attention to anything here. Picked up a few other freebies over time like that also without paying attention. Then, sometime in late 2012 I saw their front page DRM-free blurbs and clicked on it and read what the store was all about and was snapped out of my ignorant stupor and became highly interested in supporting their cause for DRM-free gaming. Within a few weeks or so a big promo came on and I started buying games like a mad man. The rest is history. :)
Greetings, and welcome.
Please go through the awesome buffet of free games and grab what you'd like (well, the TBA game will most likely not be free, the DLCs require owning the related game, and there are a couple demos as well, but even ignoring those there are over a dozen great games for no cost beyond the time it takes to add them to your account).
