I updated to the latest version of GOG Galaxy on Friday, and since then every time I've tried to launch a full screen game, the taskbar has still been visible at the bottom of the screen. Games I've tried it with so far are Godhood, Stadew Valley and Hollow Knight.

Toggling between windowed and full screen modes in-game does seem to work (as in, the game becomes windowed and supposedly full screen), but does not hide the taskbar. I have tried loading up a game in windowed mode and then switching to full screen but no joy there, either. I even tried Alt+Tab to go back to GOG Galaxy and then return to game, but that doesn't do anything to remove the taskbar either.

My Googling turned up an old-ish thread suggesting that I should turn off GOG Galaxy and try without it (?) but I can't work out how to do that! I can't see a setting for it in GOG Galaxy itself and my games won't open without loading GOG Galaxy first. I can turn off the in-game overlay etc. but still have the same issue.

Any suggestions for what to try next/instead would be very helpful. Thanks.

try disabling fullscreen optimization in shortcut of the game.

BeatriceElysia: try disabling fullscreen optimization in shortcut of the game.
Thanks, I think this has worked but I need to do some more testing as my computer decided to restart mid-game when I loaded it with fullscreen optimization disabled.
I've had this happen with videos and ending "explorer" in task manager, forcing it to reboot, always fixed the problem.
