Does anyone know of a tablet that can be connected to a PC and used as a second screen, similar to attaching a second monitor to a PC?

The thought came to me here at the hotel - as I'm looking to do a bunch of Quickbooks crap - that this would be a great way to solve two traveling problems of mine: the aforementioned second screen, and also a data device with a decent-sized screen that is easier to deal with - at the customer site - than the big laptop.

There's Splashtop, which seems to be akin to wireless VNC from your desktop to an Android device, but it doesn't have a lot of good reviews on the Google Play Store. AirDisplay 2 seems to work in a similar fashion, but it also has poor reviews.
Thanks for the replies so far.

Is this something you have tried? Curious how well these things work.

Seems fairly complicated, in that it operates over a network connection. I'm hoping there is a simpler version, where you simply plug into the HDMI port that many tablets come with and use the "Extend Screen" option on the laptop. I suppose that requires it to be a two-way HDMI connection, where the tablet accepts input as well as driving output.
I haven't tried it no. Iv got a twin monitor set up at home and dont need one elsewhere. Just sounds like a lot of hassle.

Yeah, using a second monitor at home, too. Works great with the laptop there. Just need something similar for the road, and I figure a tablet will let me nail down a couple solutions with one device without having to lug around a desktop screen. It's tough to use Excel, QuickBooks, and online banking at the same time on one screen, even a 1920x1080.

I know what you mean. Though I personally find making up for it to be an even bigger pain haha.

I might be overthinking this.

If a tablet can be used to display stuff from the laptop, then couldn't it simply be used to run those other softwares? The accountant hosts QuickBooks so I'm connecting to them via Remote Connection. I think MS already has an (Android-compatible?) app for that, which means I could simply use the tablet as its own discrete device to operate QuickBooks instead of as a tethered second screen. I'd lose drag-and-drop but that's not really a problem.

Hmm...
