That was great! It walked that fine line between Parody and homage, with juuust a hint of self aware. The end was particularly satisfying.

She looks like Samantha from Bewitched. :)

People always seem to worship WB / DC animation. I missed the whole thing. Every time I see snippets I always come away impressed. I'd be interested to one day get a chance to revisit these shows in their entirety. As long as I had no game backlog of course.

...

hahahaha! XD
No backlog! Priceless!

Primo_Victoria: I always forget that they never showed the full season in the USA. What a waste.
G'Day Canada! You make awesome TV! I'm quite sure all my favorite shows from the last.. 30 years are either Canadian, or made in Canada.

I miss Being Erica. So Much.

What was the Parody?

Primo_Victoria: Never watch Extra Credits.

rtcvb32: Why not? I've found the series very very enlightening.
You did not continue our discussion on CGI and Uncanny Valley.

Unless there was a new thread i missed (and i haven't been watching closely...) then i thought it was closed for now... Glanced at the last 8 hours of thread titles and haven't seen a new one...

Regardless, did you watch the EC? It might still be enlightening.

... uh... not sure if serious?
That whole scene you linked was basically an "I want" song, without the actual singing.

I have known EC since the Escapist days. And I liked them alot. But over time I started to lose interest and they started to become a bit too pretentious for my taste. And this was before Sargon of Akkad.

I have the same opinion towards Game Theorist. At first I cared than I lost interest because most of the theories are getting a bit non-sensicle. Like Rosalina is Peach's daughter and Peach is actually dead in Super Mario.

Also on CG I meant you have not replied to what I said:

I knew it was trying to ape the Disney Style but I did not thought of singing.

Ahh... i must have missed it somehow... Probably saw a second reply and failed to see the first.

Elmofongo: Besides the uncanny valley was applied to robotics, of course a robot made to look human will look weird in reality. I don't know why people are applying it to CG animation.
Although applied to robotics where it was originally noticed, that doesn't mean it doesn't apply to other things. CGI is very close to robotics, the only difference being physical vs simulation, they are both visual characteristics.

I am reminded of a creepy picture of a teddy bear smiling, yes it's not a robot and yes it's not CGI or CG or anything to do with computers. It's unsettling... it's the uncanny valley.

I admit as kid I was fooled by Final Fantasy The Spirits Within thinking they were real people and not CG motion capture.

Also my opinion there is one crucial factor that can make or break the realism of a CG image and that is Lighting.

Lighting can kill the realism of a CGI image. In A Christmas Carol 2009 there are some scenes were the lighting makes the human models look practically real like it was there. But some scenes where there is lighting that ruins the realness of the models.

I recall watching Spirits Within on a CRT TV, which was slightly blurry, and the blurr definitely removes the details you'd need to notice it was CGI... or just being exposed to it long enough to get an ability to easily detect them.

But there's a lot of things that can break realism, even if it isn't CG... There's a teacher/professor/historian i watch named Lindy Beige (Not sure his real name). He sometimes goes over movies and points out huge obvious mistakes in movies, be it the era of clothing is wrong, timeline is obviously wrong, plot is stupid and broken... and one of his favorite is torches. Torches being used in movies that shouldn't be there, or the premise of it's use should be impossible unless you can refine chemicals. Take Lord of the rings as an example...

Maybe that's going off topic a bit... I recommend watching all his videos on torches, and crap archery and stuff...

Anyways, i'm not an animator so i can't tell you how hard or complex it is to make something or to animate something, or light something just right so it looks okay.
The only good version of Supergirl:

(And Clark is a total douchebag there as always.)

maybe spoilers i dont know

ok i resurface this thread, because i just saw the episode and it was good i like it

I like her as supergirl, and ally mcbeal is also a plus, good to see her back on tv. where is the dancing baby haha.

the main problem that i have is that they are constantly calling Superman He, your cousin, the one, the first alien, whatever but not the name Superman, it feels forced to me at least. is there any legal problem with the name Superman in this show?

And also the goverment and her sister in particular talks about the problems about coming out and save people, and how the people will take it blah blah, when is hardly any big deal since you had already a Superman flying and saving the citizen of metrópolis and the world for many years.

This show is like making gotham in the future, when there´s a batman but you cannot name it, so you say the dark one, him, the one that lurks in the shadow whatever.

i hope it gets better with time
